I have an XD9 that I carry daily. Great piece.

The P7 pretty damn slim too, but probably a little longer than the option above. It has the best trigger ever IMO, I like it better than most 1911's I've shot.

If its not for carry and more range time, get a fullsize. Or a P7 :) Seeing the trend here. I love that gun. Shoot one you'll see why there's a cult around it.

Nice to see another P-7 aficionado! What a fantastic piece, one that will never leave my side.
My two favorites, the P-7 and a LW combat commander in .45acp that Novak built me.
 
 
I have a Sig P230 and love it for a carry pistol. Very compact and undetectable
 
been looking at the Ruger LCP with CT Laser... for a daily carry... w Dasanti holster there is no profile...

Anyone ever use 45 & 38 Caliber Wax or Rubber rounds in CA - are they legal in this wonderful state?
The Wax rounds apparently use primer only and the pop is not as pronounced .

I have used Speer plastic rounds before, note that in most areas of CA, shoot off these "non-lethal" rounds have the same restriction a the real thing. The noise is about a loud the loudest cap guns made back in the 70s. The ones that used plastic filled caps, not the paper strips. I don't see any cap guns sold today, I guess it P-In-correct.

As for why, they can be used for target practice where the real thing would present a hazard, or excessive noise (draw unwanted attention). But be VERY careful NEVER to mix up the rounds!!!

These are best used in single shots or revolvers, since they will not cycle a semi-auto.

'Understood...but, I'm wondering what good they'd be or why they'd even be wanted in a self defense situation. I wouldn't want my piece loaded with something like that when the odds are a perp's weapon wouldn't be...:willy

'Wouldn't want to target practice with 'em myself. 'Would want the recoil, noise, etc., to be the same in practice as the 'carry' ammo, & only the carry ammo is going to provide that. But, maybe that's just me.

I live in the hills and the back of my house is isolated and ideal for sharpening my skills. The local sargeant (close friend)suggested the wax bullets as they dont make a loud pop. Both gunstores near by said they do not have a supplier. I also cant find out what the laws are for rubber bullets and their availability
 
EP brings up some very good points. As for using then for self defense, "forget about it", your fists would do better. They can, at best, penetrate 2 layers of cardboard. Also if you present a gun, expect to get fired back upon with the real thing while you are using rubber bullets. As for target practice EP is right practice as you would in the really satiation is best. However for those that don't have easy access for a place to shoot, these rounds nevertheless offer some useful practice.

Since you are access to the local sargent why not ask him would he assist or cite someone using them? I believe where I live almost anything shooting a projectile is illegal, a BB gun, slingshot, bow and arrow, blow gun, etc. I think the biggest practical problem with using them in a urban environment, is the noise outdoors may get the neighbors attention and thus the LEO, indoor most all primers release toxic lead dust that you don't want to breathe.
 
 
I carry the Ruger LC9 with Dasanti holster and like them both.
 
Never show up to a gun fight with a knife. Or fake bullets.
