i bought Aloha GT's old Gen two 3.3L Whipple supercharger and got it dyno'd with Accufab's dual blade throttle body and a Mafia. i already have a MMP X-pipe cat back exhaust. Kendall (Nota4re) and his son Ryan from Cool Tech did all of the installation work and dyno too. their work and comraderie were exceptional. they were very hospitable and professional. their attention to detail were unparalled. their willingness to not give up until i was satisfied led us to Torrie from this site who gave me a much needed custom tune. and here are the results on VP's 100 octane unleaded race gas and 19 degrees of timing :cool

Terry - i am looking forward to racing at the Mojave Mile again :thumbsup i got a new set of Bridgestones and they are heavier and not as aerodynamic as the Goodyears but they grip a lil better though. as you know the main thing at Mojave is the HIGH altitude and the ever present possibility of the ultimate buzz killer the dreaded HEAD WIND :willy

Looks great! I wonder how much more if you used MS109?

^^^^ - with a lil more timing maybe 20 rwhp.

my NGK 7's were gapped at 30 thousandths....

Hey wait where is all of my love here :lol

The great thing at Mojave now is we get to run downhill with the wind at our back! Gonna be fun!:thumbsup Have you had a chance to drive your car around a bit to feel that power?:eek

Oh, and Torrie is pretty incredible too... :thumbsup Love you Torrie! :biggrin

i just got home and the car is still in the trailer so i haven't had a chance to give it a full test yet; but i did take the car up to 100 mph in 2nd gear the other night and she had alot of torque :biggrin the wider tires and the BIGGER supercharger give the car much more of a muscle car attitude :eek

she is a total hot rod now and i have nicknamed my batmobile Heavy Metal :cheers

the car is very consistent with the whipple as we made 12 dyno runs in 3 hours and almost every run got stronger than the last as Torrie worked his magic with the tune in spite of the heat soak. in fact the last run put down the most rwhp and rwtq :usa

Great to hear you got what you wanted out of the upgrades Freddy!! :thumbsup

I can't say enough great stuff about Kendall and Ryan. My car breathes fire now thanks to them. :biggrin

Like Terry mentioned there is less of a chance for wind issues with the way the course is run now. With the 1.3 mile track you should put up a nice number and be very happy when you get your time slip. Can't wait for April!! :cheers

Congrats!!!!

Yeah those were definitely non cool down back to back runs up till the end for sure and it worked out quite well.:biggrin

Freddy,

A big congrats for a big HP gain! But, man, what did you do that for!! Now, you get me itching for one now, hahaha. Who has a Whipple 3.3, but want to upgrade to TT, for sale? Don't want to deal with the 4.0L fuel issues or the non-compliant with the TT in Ca, I guess the 3.3L Whipple is the way to go for hassle free mod and CARB.

Can't wait to see the #s you'll produce at the Mojave Mile in April!

congrats Freddy, I was wondering when you were going to do this mod! Im sure you will enjoy the newly added punch, but will soon be looking for more to add, always remember nitrous is your friend, maybe you'll be the other ford gt with a big shot of NOS, then you will easily hit your mark at the next mile event. good luck!

I have the same setup. Watch your shift changes under full acceleration on the turns. Not like you already did not know this.

It was a real pleasure to meet Fred and work on his ultra-clean car. We had everthing layed out and ready to install and everything went on without a hitch. The only problem we had was that AlohaGT's (older) SCT device didn't want to talk to Fred's car - despite that we went through the divorce proceedings with Aloha's GT earlier in the week. The hero of the day was Torrie - sending us a very good Whipple tune while we had the car all strapped down on the dyno. Talk about "just in time"!! Anyway, the generic tune was good but there was (as ususal), room for improvement. I'll probably make a seperate thread about this including more details, but I think we have more or less perfected the process of doing a Torrie custom tune with Torrie being in the comfort of his own home... or is it that cat house or wherever it is that he hangs out!! We have downloaded all of the SCT software that has the ability to capture basically any engine paramter you want and datalog those during the dyno pull. Torrie sent us his custom configuration file to get the data recorded to his liking. We then do a dyno pull - collecting all of this information and, of course, on the dyno PC, we have the Dynojet file with the HP, TQ, Boost, and A/F data. From within the car, Ryan emails Torrie the engine parameter log and from the dyno PC, I email him the dynojet log. Then we sit around and bullshit for 5 minutes or so while Torrie pours over the data and tweaks through another tune to remedy any variances he doesn't like from the pull results. After just a few minutes a new tune file arrives via email. Ryan downloads it and then loads it into the engine ECU and we repeat the process all over again.

Quite honestly, this process worked very well. Admittedly, we all enjoy Torrie's company but this is a way to get all of Torrie's considerable engine management tuning expertise without the expense, time, logistics of getting him out here.

At the end of the day, the results speakl for themselves. 750HP and 700 Lb-ft of TQ and with a torque curve that is flat as hell, is pretty damn special. Congrats to Freddy and much deserved thanks to Torrie for the custom tune.
