I started my business 21 years and 3 months ago and today I closed on the selling of the business. Negotiations have been ongoing for close to six months, May 14th I signed documents but today we actually closed, funds and shares were transferred and now I have a boss (besides my customers) for the first time in 21 years as I have agreed to stay on for 2 - 3 years. It's been a hell of a ride as I started the company in March 1989 with a 5k loan from a friend, paid him back the first month, I have been fortunate enough to get to travel all over the world (where oil & gas is produced) have created some life long friends around the globe. I also have kept the facility and have a long term lease with the buyer. Anyway I just drove in from Houston for the closing and wanted to share my day with the Forum. This almost seems a like a dream and wow how fast time passes by.

Congrats! I actually had an offer from someone to buy into my company last week. Not interested at this point.... at least not for a price that anyone would consider! :biggrin

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Definitely you have reached the end goal!

:cheers

For some it's the end goal, for others a chance to take a breath, figure out what's next and go do it again! Not because you have to but because it's so much fun!

Congrats! :thumbsup

Thanks for the congrats from everyone. As BigsGT says I want to take a breath, enjoy some time with family/friends and then do something else but most likely on a smaller scale and not be so involved but we will see when the time comes

Steve,

Way to go!! Now you need to ASK your new boss if I can come buy you lunch.:rofl

The oil & Gas business is surely a roller coaster of fun and drama. I would miss it like I do an ex-wife. Some good times and some bad times.:frown

You should have called me as you drove out of Houston (within 6 miles of my house) and let me buy you a coke for the road.

See you soon I hope.

Steve, Congratulations and best wishes! Two years ago this Friday June 4th I sold my Ford Dealership here in Texas City and it was a GIANT BLESSING. June is a special month for me also. You will experience the excitement of having a giant building lifted from your shoulders immediently. Rest, relax, smell the roses, and enjoy your family and friends and for those who think you will be miserable in retirement ----You won't be-----, you'll love it. Now you have the time to enjoy those things that aren't work, have to be done today, and can't wait till tomorrow. You'll never look back---no employees, no inventory, no up keep on buildings, what to do during STORMS. I'm happy for you ENJOY IT MAN. Tomy Hamon a Happy Ford Stockholder and GT owner. PS You will need a MAN CAVE to go to just so you don't get in your wifes way-- You know.
