I just love it.

Looked right at him as he drove the getaway car off. Looked directly in his eyes. Thought about filling fat Detroit ghetto **** and his accomplice full of .45 ACP but we don't have the laws to make it legal. This is why I'm always Condition 1 out here. You're always 15 feet away from a robbery or who knows what else. ****!

"It would have been worth him doin it just to catch him doin it." Well, I caught him. Too bad the car was disabled because he ripped the entire center column shifter out. At least I could have chased him down because that Dodge minivan didn't stand a chance.

At least there was nothing valuable in the car. Just a smashed window and the above carnage. Was awesome driving home in 35* weather with no window. No cops available because they just don't have the police to deal with stuff like this so I had to go to the station and fill out the report later.

Oh well, you can't hold the SHO down. She'll be back by weeks end.

I hope that kid believes in God, because he spared you tonight. :mad

Wow, that's way too bad.

That sucks, Dave. A lot of desperate people in desperate times.

Detroit - Desperate times since 1967.

Don't feel too bad Dave. Last week at 1am I heard a car alarm honking for about 10 mins. I got out of bed to see if it was my FGT (my only car that honks when the alarm goes off), but just then it quit. Went back to bed. Later I find out that 5+ cars that night were vandalized one on my street! As the economy gets worst so will the crime!

Now in CA all you can do is hide under your blanket and call 911. I believe in TX you can not only defend your property, but those of your neighbor as well. (Just MHO, not legal advise) There was a recent case in TX I don't know if charges were filed, or is the case pending.

Also read that the city of Detroit sign a bad bond deal with some investment banks and when Detroit's credit rating declined, the banks exercised their back out clause and Detroit got stuck with a 100+ million $ bill!

Detroit's financial woes are pointless to try and recover from. They should just accept some type of federal receivership and get it over with.

I jokingly asked the young cop tonight "Think you'll catch them?" and he said "You want me to make you feel better or you want me to be honest?" I obviously know the answer but he proceeded to tell me they have 2 scout cars to cover 19 square miles. In a city that rivals third world countries in terms of murder and crime. Sad. Sad for them and sad for the inmates running the asylum.

But hey, could be worse. One of my childhood buddies is an ER doctor at a downtown hospital, and he told me he extricated a crackpipe out of some woman's ass last week. :lol

WOW!

Not that I am surprised.

Born in Marquette, grew up in Sterling Heights. Played hockey @ Fraser Hockey Land and all over Michigan and Canada.

Then we moved to AZ. Yes, I drive my GT all winter long.

Vehicle storage ... what's that? Rust :willy .... not in AZ.

Now we visit family & friends in the summer time ... catch a Tiger game or two.

Watch the Wings in HD on my 60", almost like being @ the Joe just warmer with blue skies .... yes blue skies 300+ days a year.

Population in AZ growing ... not counting illegals. :rofl

Time to sell and move west to AZ. best decision you will ever make. Just take a forum poll.

Oh, in AZ, the wild wild west ... we believe in gun ownership. Gun laws/ownership are very favorable. Just ask Chip.

Sorry this happened to you.

More Guns= Less Crime

Gentlemen,

Carjackings and occupied home invasions are virtually unheard of in Arizona because over two thirds of all households here are armed. Compare that to the disastrous numbers in Washington, DC where almost all gun ownership is prohibited. As a convenience store operator in a tough neighborhood, I have pulled my .45 a total of six times during the last 10 years. I have never needed to pull the trigger. The Phoenix Police Department notes in their report that a gun was pulled to stop a property crime. Perfectly legal here in Arizona and it's all good. Anybody is allowed to carry a loaded gun in Arizona if it's not concealed. CCW permits are given out liberally and allow one to carry concealed just about anywhere. More guns in the hands of citizens equal less crime.

Chip

I wish all states had guns laws like AZ!

Sorry this happened, Dave.

Chip and Greg are absolutely correct. :thumbsup As my instructor in my first CCW class said, "An armed society is a polite society." And we try to be as "polite" as possible here in Arizona! :biggrin

MI has liberal gun laws and I believe Dave has a CCW, but MI laws are more restrictive in their use.

We're pretty good actually. If you feel you or any other individual is under direct threat of grievous bodily harm or injury, you're good to go. They don't even have to be armed if you're a 5'5 women facing a 6'0 man. Just can't shoot car thieves. Unless they try to run you over.

Sorry to hear about your incident Dave.

My local senior Leo friends all told me the same thing. If they are inside you home, you shoot them when they are facing you, then you call us first ( I have their Cell Phones) and then you call the station directly and not 911 - unless its an emergency of course.

I'm definitely annoyed that I'm still awake at 3AM because I'm wired from almost being involved in something serious. Arg.

A real Bummer!

yeah I know it can be fixed.

But the being up and wired direct at 3 a.m. isn't covered by your auto policy.

Dave,
Sorry man... :shrug

Know the feeling

A few years back our home was vandalized and the van got stolen from the driveway as their getaway. We recoverd much of the property due to concerned citizens turning in info. We went through such a feeling of being violated. I couldn't shake that feeling for a long time.

I can't say that I got even, but I am feeling much better now!

Suburbs of Detroit!:thumbsdow

My front door got smashed in last year as well. It's double layer glass and I guess the racket of the first layer smashing scared them away from trying the second. The car is one thing, but if you breach the door and we're home, you're leaving in a body bag. Period.

Hello Dave.

I own a auto glass company in AZ.

What's the year make and model.

What piece of glass.

I will do some research for you. I can check my wholesale/suppliers in the Detroit metro area.

Sounds like you have a laminated door glass.
