A few shots for you that know the history.

When not touring, Chaparrals are on permanent display at Permian Basin Petroleum Musem, Midland Texas. GT is there for 30 days.

Thanks to all here who guided me on the initial plunge and special thanks to Shelby, Peak and the Camillo/Heffner red car.

Sorry if the pics are to big. I have no clue how to make them smaller.

See you at the Rally. :thumbsup

Chip -

Is it possible to route the "Rally to the Rally" for a stop here? I would love to see the Chaparrels that Phil Hill drove again.

You're from Texas, your not wired to make anything smaller. :biggrin

I am embarrased to say that I have never been there. I need to take the time and check it out.

awesome!!! :bow

Awe yes a rose between two thorns is what I see. Still it is history and very cool, although a brand X backdoor attempt at steeling a LeMans victory.

Still a little pissed after talking with a guy who claimed to be Craparal engine builder. Had my FGT at a show, this guy pretended not to know anything about my car, asked me things like what kind of Mustang my car was etc, one stupid question after another, then as I explained about all the history, he exclaimed that he was there in 1960's and was on the Craparal team. This cat seemed very jealous and bitter about Ford and the GT program. F'em

The museum is really nice and the Chaparral's are a nice piece of race history.
Anyone who gets in the area or gets a chance to check it out will enjoy
Is that Peak's car in the museum ?

Yellow car is mine.

My first ever GT ride was from Peak. :willy

The rest is history.

Come join us for a run. Invitation is always open.

Have been accused of that many a time, however my wife contends the condition is not universal...:lol

I will take you up on the invitation !! I plan on driving my car, cant wait till I get it back (GT Guys have it now) unfortunately it will not be ready in time for the Rally but I think it will be worth the wait ! Your car looks awsome in the museum !!

i like the #7 and the #66 car the best :bow wouldn't it be cool if chevy could recreate these cars like Ford did with the GT. they could make it 10% larger like they did with the GT and put the 427 LS7 in it. chevy's all aluminum motors are the lightest on the market. i would absolutely haul ass in a car like that :biggrin i would terrorize the pavement :lol

donnymac post some close up pix of these cars :thumbsup i am droolin over here :ack

My car leaves the museum next Saturday and I will take some pics for you. Sucker car(2J) is there also.

2 of the cars leave for a California event in a few weeks.

DonnyMac,

Where and when in California? I would love to see them again. (The last time was in the sixties)

Who did the paint job on your yellow GT (making the black look like FlorIdaho Chris' red Camillo Heffner car)? That, along with the number decals and sweet detail job, make that car really stand out!!!! Looks great! :thumbsup

Shelby gets all the credit and we definitley like the FlorIdaho Chris' red Camillo Heffner car.

Paint, bumper delete, pin stripe, numbers, powdwer coating: sc, Penskies, Pe2unias vents, wheels and gearshift ball all Sheby. Im sure I forgot something.

His bunch did a great job. Actually we have more to do....but thats for post rally. Car went into the museum the day after I got it. I havent driven it more than 5 miles, but that all changes this saturday when I get it back.:banana

I will get you the info this week.

#7 is the 2D. I think it is one of the best looking cars of all time. Right up there with the GT40.
