Some beautiful shots. One would think that Ford is just now introducing these cars. It's hard to believe that it has been three years since production ended! These cars are awesome!

Are these cars owned by private individuals or Ford exec's? Or does Ford still have a few cars in their show fleet. I remember seeing pictures of the GT on that sideways rack setup at the Carlisle show.

Am I the only one that noticed that the red car was winning?

Nope....the red car is on the rack for repairs. Probably our Russian compatriot destroyed that clutch as well.:eek

The BLACK GT will 'ALWAYS' be known as the FIRST winning Ford GT. I refer you to the LeMans historical record. :thumbsup

The BLACK GT isn't in this picture because the driver is getting kissed by the race 'babe' over at the winners circle.

Actually, you'll notice that the Heritage car is on the winners step of the podium. So actually, the race was already done and the Heritage car is now collecting it's laurels. :wink

The white/blue GT with the Ford Racing decal was the Ford car for hot laps. It belongs to Ford. The remaining cars in the exhibit all belong to Ford for that exhibit. The real GT40's were inside. See my pics from the RoadAmerica thread. None of us owners had anything to do with it (a real disappointment to myself and DriveBy).

....

Actually, the first winning Ford GT40 was GT/103 at the 1965 Daytona Continental 2,000 Kilometer Race by Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby.

http://www.seriouswheels.com/def/Ford-GT40-Daytona-1965.htm

It was originally painted white with blue sill and top stripes in 1964 but when it became a Shelby entry in 1965 and was the 1st winning GT40, it was painted Ford Caspian Blue (not Shelby's normal Guardsman Blue), with White stripes.

In its second race that season, it finished 2nd at the 1965 Sebring 12 Hour (Ken Miles/Bruce McLaren) - beaten by Jim Hall/Hap Sharp in the Chaparral 2A.
