………..came and went on May 11th. I have to say (not to the surprise of any of you) that this was the most incredibly fun year of ownership of any car I have ever had. :banana

I looked at several different cars before I purchased, but my GT experience really all started with a simple question posted on this Forum in April of last year. I asked for any good tips on buying a GT. Little did I know from that first post I would not only go on to buy my GT, but I would continue to check in and post on this incredible website.

Honestly my only thought when I stopped by that day was getting a little info from owners of the car to help make my purchase and that would be that. How wrong was I??? I pondered it for a while. What was it about this car site and this car that made me not only want to drive it, but share the experiences with others. While I enjoyed the different fun cars I have had over the years from Vipers to the NSX and even my trusty 850 CSI, I never even knew they had web sites. (of course now I realize that every car from Hyundai’s to Smart’s have sites :ack)

All I know is that through the GT Forum I have made new friends that I have actually met in person, attended a GT driving school, found a terrific service shop for my car, and spent way too much money on upgrades and gadgets. And honestly the most memorable thing I did with my GT this year was a day of mixed emotions. I drove my GT to Fresno celebrate the life of our former moderator who was taken from us far too soon. That was a man I wish I could have got to know better.

The people who buy (and sell and service) this car are an incredibly interesting group that seem to have not just a passion for the car, but for life as well. Yes the car is an incredible once in a lifetime machine, but the owners are just as special. I will never meet most of you, but I enjoy your posts and find this a regular stop that entertains me for a few minutes (sometimes longer :wink ) on most days. Thanks to all of you on the site for taking a car and turning it into sooo much more. :thumbsup:thumbsup

To sum it up, through 3,300 miles of GT driving bliss, two oil changes, a pulley swap, new bridgestones (one word for these tires…. AWESOME) and all the other gadgets and upgrades this has been an incredible year. I have a non-Forum GT owner friend I have made at the local C&C. His car is bone stock, but he loves to come chat about the different things I have done to mine (he has even made a couple small purchases). I told him to check out the site and he looked at my car, then looked at me and joked “I am afraid to. I am not sure those boys are a good influence.” I laughed and told him, that I had to disagree. They are all a great influence. :cheers

Admission ticket.

Skyrex,

Thanks for an outstanding post. I run into people from time to time who own a Ford GT and don't even know this Forum exists. What a shame. The car is special in its own right and is certainly a worthwhile purchase. But for many of us, the car itself has been eclipsed by the amazing experience of this Forum and its members. My Ford GT has been an admission ticket into a world of good fellowship, high adventure, and ruinous expenditures as our vendors continue to post up an endless series of must-have Do-Das.

There is no other owner group or automotive internet forum even remotely like this one. I'll see you in Texas! :cheers

What a wonderful post; I too want to extend a heartfelt "thank you"

All the best

Agree whole heartedly!
The car is a fabulous work of automotive art.
The brothership of owners is even better!
Glad you are with us and also look forward to seeing you at Austin....

Totally agree!
Hope we'll see you in Austin...Rally IV.
Bring your enthusiasm along!

Nicely put. Certainly reflects my, and many others, sentiments as well.

Nice post!
Ford sure did nail it !!
ITS THE ONE !!!!

Tom, first off, HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! :cheers

As for the rest, you are so right on my brother! This place harbors not just a source of information (and endless modding "requirements"), but it's also a source of camaraderie among a great group of like minded individuals.

Congratulations on your 1st year of ownership. :thumbsup And thank you for being a wonderful friend!!!

"Happy Anniversary"!

When I first saw this thread I thought that EP bought another GT and I almost passed out! I mean the odds of another blue/white no mile gt in existence would be surely a sign of the end of times! :lol

Rex, great post ..... congrats on the year ... now be careful this is about the time that the "gotta have two" bug usually hits. :cheers
