Anyone try a Whipple+TT Combo

I'm loving these things. They hook up 900rw in 1st gear once warmed up.

so hows it running, you like it, this may be last second, but were doing a private 60-130 event this sunday at Houston raceway park at noon, you should try to come out so see what it can do. it should be fun, there will be at least three or four cars in the 4's, group is limited to 10 cars only, let me know, pm me if you need my number

I'm loving it. I dunno if I can come down this Sunday but I need to run some cars to get a feel for how its running. I've messed with some bikes but haven't had a good runin with a similar hp car yet.

I gotta similar hp car:devil

Yea I wanna run you sometime. Let me get the full race gas tune done. I bumped it up to 21psi tonight on race gas but its still on the conservative pump gas tune/timing.

Right now, I either have to do a 45-50 punch in 1st or 70+ in 2nd. Even with brake boosting, I can't really do a 55-65 roll. Not enough power at that RPM.

60-130 golden standard:biggrin

you should be able to brake boost and come out strong in second

honestly I think you should be faster than me if you dont fall behind too much in second.

after about 3 times, the brakes started smelling pretty bad

i prefer 50-180 :lol

i'll try to vbox mine sometime this weekend.

So no one has done a TT with a Whipple. I guess I am a little surprised. I too thought about going the TT route and losing the supercharger, but for street driving I would rather have the power all the time rather than have to wind the engine up to feel all the power. Nothing like having a bunch on tap in the 2500-4500rpm range. Turbos are great on the top end but don't want to live with 200 less hp/tq in the mid range....

Maybe I 'll be the first to try the Whipple/TT setup. I too am waiting for the 4.0 liter Whipple...If it can make near TT power for under $10k, I will probably just go this route and save $25k. Just remains to be seenif it can make that much power though on pump gas

So no one has done a TT with a Whipple

Its been done before by me.

So how was the power/tq with the Whipple vs the stock supercharger? Was it worth it? Logically, I would think it would provide an even bigger boost in the mid range and not be as big of a restriction on the top end...resulting in more power everywhere. Did you find this?

Wayne, I sent you two emails regarding this a while back. Did you not get them or did you just not believe me?

FYI JAPANSCHROTT = Japan Scrap Iron :thumbsup

Regardless of what you may envision in theory here, factually did not materialize.

In my mind given what I have witnessed with the calibration work I have done on my own vehicle and others in a wide variety of configurations if you really want to work with Turbo's force feeding a supercharger the stock 2.3L unit works best under driven.

Tory (tmcphail) has discussed this in detail on several threads. He did it and it did not work to his liking thus he immediatly took this setup back off his car. Tory has 30k+ miles on his car. His opinion is well respected. The Whipple will NOT make TT power, and the two together will not produce an ideal outcome. Also, if you are looking to get just the whipple and save the money from the TT, does not sound like you would go as far as buying both and having $50k in the set up. The stock blower comes with the car, so that does not cost you anything extra. Its been proven that the TT with the stock blower is a good, Fun street set-up.

sc+tt= to much weight and to much heat and just more equipment in which to fail. i would just do one or the other
