specifically these sizes.

Michelin
Pilot Sport PS2 or Sport Cups
245/40-18 Front (85.75) -18.91%
345/30-19 Rear (103.00)-18.25%

Of the people who are running these tires or same sizes do you notice your speedo is off? I want to go to the Pilot Cups but am concerned about the speedo being way off.

If you know the amount of inaccuracy of your speedometer, you can have the ECM reprogrammed to bring it back to the correct values.

A custom tune can fix the speedo. I would be more concerned with the big difference in diameter compared to stock! 18% less is huge!

thanks on the heads up on the tune.

now, why would there be a issue with a smaller diameter? edumacate me pleze

The smaller tires with stock suspension settings will lower your ride height and the wheel gaps will be much larger. If you lower the ride height to get the wheel gaps in-line (aesthetically) then the car is real low and handling may be compromised.

This is based on your -18% numbers which I believe are wrong. I think the change is much less than that.

ok

the 18% number is from The Tire Thread.

I'm not a big track/cornering kind of guy (we just don't have them around here) so the handling thing MIGHT not be that big of a deal to me.

bottom line is I want wider and stickier tires on it than the stock ones (that are almost shot).

Actually, I think that the total rolling diameter is almost 2" less, so I don't know what the %s are, but 2" is quite a bit on a 27" or so overall diameter.......

I love my Pilot cups on my turbo 911, but since they don't make the right size for us, and given all the praise given to the Bridgestones, and given the quality and race pedigree of the cars those tires are from (Ferrari Scuderia rear and Porsche GT2 front), why don't you just get those? Tons of threads on those tire treads. :wink

I'll have mine by the end of the month I hope. :thumbsup

I REALLY like Michelins

The Michelin 345's stick very well when warm and surprisingly they wear incredibly well, but IMO the best thing is they enable a pullied GT to accelerate almost as quickly as a whippled GT with standard size tires even though the Whipple provides about 100 more RWHP. The shorter 345's provide a significant speed gain. The speedo will run about 7% faster but that's easily fixed as explained in earlier posts. Just do it :cheers

I have 275/30/19 in front (michelin PS2) which I think is a BETTER fit. The 245s in front look to small to me
My rears are 335/30/20 which are also a great fit....
Now, Notice I am running 20's in the rear and 19's in the front as I have after market wheels (HRE)
IMHO, there are no sizes that Michelin makes for the factory wheels that look CORRECT.

what size and model(Cups or PS2's) Michelins are you running in the front?

Agreed. I am not into the performance aspect...handling, cornering etc....I want some damn tires that will last 30K miles! I think a Michelin would last much longer than the Goodyears, but I run Goodyears because Michelin does not offer a COMPARABLE size tire to my knowledge. Fronts will go about 16K on my car and rears about 8K.:thumbsdow

Tire Calibration/Tire Size/Alignment

If you have an SCT unit, you can reprogram/calibrate your engine management computer to drive the speedometer to the appropriate revolutions per mile for just about any tire size. Tire Rack lists these numbers for each tire.

You will have to adjust the alignment if using larger than stock tire sizes, particularly to be assured the contact patch is as great as possible under straight ahead and cornering conditions. This will maximize wear, traction and handling characteristics.

I am using the tire size 345/30 ZP rear, and I use a 275/35 ZP on the front wheels. HRE wheel size rear is 13X19 and front is 10X18. No worries about flats with these tires.

It took three trips to the alignment rack to get the contact patch maximized.

They are wearing great and handling very well, although I only have a few thousand miles of experience on them.

I have the 335/30/20 rear and the 265/30/19 front. That is all the tire I think the front can handle with tight turns and bumps. I rolled over a gas station filling cap with the right front and it kissed the fender liner.

lots of tire threads

We have lots of previous threads with great info. Search & read! Great contributions in them. As I & others have posted the Hoosiers are the stickest DOT tires that fit the GT. I've put thousands of road miles on them with no problem. The rears are a perfect size match as they were made for our GTs!
