What would make this indicator light come on when there dosen't seam to be anything wrong? It came on while driving 65 MPH on the freeway, None of the gauges show anything wrong. Will this have to be reset at the dealer? I have stoped and restarted the car several times thinking it may reset it self but it hasen't. the Workshop manual states that it receives it's signal from the PCM over the SCP network so from that i suspect it could be a plethera of things?? :confused

It could be any number of things causing that light to turn on. The only way to determine what is happening is to pull the diagnostic trouble codes.

This is something that a Ford dealer can do for you or you can take it to a local Pep Boys and some times they will let you use their scan tools yourself.

Is this check gage or check engine?

Check you owners manual on Dash guage review.

From memory Check gage comes on b/c:

-Low fuel
-Doors/hoods ajar
-Low coolant, oil or battery

Thanks Bill, All better now :cheers :biggrin

Thanks for the reply, It was just the little yellow light shaped like an engine in the same line up as the seatbelt, door ajar, ect...ect... The service tech,s at the ford dealer were off on sat but the service writer knew where they keep the tool to check codes and not knowing exactally how to run it he accidently reset it with out finding out the cause. I had just filled up with gas about 15 miles before the light came on so it may have been that sliding fuel door under the lid?? I also noticed after i had filled up with fuel that the octain rateing has droped to 91 where i have always been getting 93 so now i have to find another place to get fuel. Could the low octain fuel have thrown a code?? I dought it but do you think it's possible?

On another note the local Ford dealer always loves it when i show up with the Gt. i offered to pay for the service today but they declined and said " we are just happy you stop once in a while" That was pretty nice!! :thumbsup

Unless you moded the motor or loaded a different tune, any fuel 91 octane or higher is fine and shouldn't cuase any lights to go on.
