Looks like the GT lost both, but its a damn good thing he wasn't closer in the race against the F1 car (around a minute in)........:frown

Wow. Hard to see how the F1 guy could lose it in that situation. One would assume he was an experienced racer. I wonder if something broke?

Looks like the driver was hurt too. :frown

PS This should probably have been posted in "The Pit @ LeMans". Just a recommendation...

Oops, probably you're right. Perhaps one of our new mods would be so kind as to move this? Please?

It's sad to see anyone crash.. It just goes to show High HP and traction loss can bite even the best of them.. He was a rally driver no less,,

vid of F1 racing a Ford GT and the F1 wrecks

i wonder what kind of modz the GT had? i am guessing he had to have twin turbos if he thought he stood a chance against a F1 car :eek

There is a utube video from a year or so ago with a modestly modified FGT handling a SLR on a drag strip 1/4 mile run. Based upon that, my guess is the FGT in this video didn't have significant mods. Fortunately the F1 driver was unhurt, except for the pain of the embarrassment and damages to the multimillion dollar F1 car. :cheers

Sorry it took so long. I've just figured out how to do this yesterday. :biggrin

...According to reports from the ground, the Renault was spinning its tires down the straight when it finally regained traction, causing an uneven transfer of grip and pulling the car to the right...

The F1 car needed traction control.

However rules banned TC in 2008

Maybe the driver assumed the car had TC, very bad to ASSume.

Goes to show you its not the car , but the driver !!
Put Martindale or Mcgowan in the Gt and they might have beaten the Mclaren

Whata ya talkin about the GT went right by him... He was just saving the tires at the start !! :biggrin

A Ford GT win.

Superfly,

You need to watch the video all the way through. The Ford GT won the second race handily. He passed the Renault F1 car shortly after it crashed into the wall. :biggrin

Makes one appreciate how truly gifted F1 drivers must be to tame those beasts.

didnt anybody think how ironic it was that he crashed into a wall that had signs on it that read, "TOTAL" difficult to say what happened but seemed to be driver error, big one.

Another case of Operator Error.

Error Code #1-- Too Much Right Foot

Error Code #2-- Left Side of Brain not fully engaged

hard to belive the F1 car costs a million $$ to build:rofl
