Shadowman and Griot's Wheel Dollies

Just curious; how many folks have a set of the hydraulic version of dollies and then the even greater question is; how many folks have actually used them on their Ford GT?

Thank you

We have a set of go-jaks over here but they aren't the right size for the GT. Very convenient to push cars around even if you're one person. I would definitely like to get the right size next year.

I had a set of dollies under a car once and it moved around so easy it almost got away from me. The garage it was in had a slight slope outward and it almost ended up heading for the street.

If you can find a set wide enough for the tires and are careful, they work slick. :thumbsup

I have the ratchet version. The fronts work fine. The larger rears work, but you have to be very carefully not to catch the body of the car. once on they work great. I would like to hear ho the hydraulic ones work.

Now this was (sadly) the answer that I was looking for;

I acquired a set of 4 of the hydraulic version and only today went to use them and found that they do not slide in enough to work on the rear with the gal at OEM ride height because they are too tall and hit the underbody and inner wheel liner; it would be worse if the gal was lowered and then front hit behind the wheels however they could likley be used in the front.

Here is a picture of them sitting under the rear and sadly they simply do no slide in far enough so as to be able to place the tire on the rubber rollers; now Griot's was called and they said that they work fine on their Ford GT; I would sure like to know how without lifting the gal and setting her on them; LOL

Takes care

I use the ratchet set and they are a tight fit, but do work.

The ratchet style must be lower because Bony considering that these will not fit under a gal at OEM ride height they would never come close to working on your gal as she sits now.

Nice pieces but IMO will not work on these gals; if the caster diameter was 1 1/2" smaller I think that they would do just fine however Griot's does not support such a consideration.

Thank you all for the replies

I have both Go-Jaks and Hydraulic. The Go-Jaks don't work at all, I have the narrow ones. The hydraulic ones will work, but I have to be very carefull on how I place them on the wheels. They are a tight fit and you could hit body parts if not careful. I have taken a hydraulic set and widen them as well as extenting them to work on drag race cars with 16x33 tires.

My set of GoJacks are several years old, painted purple, have metal rollers and different wheels.... They are the extra wide units. They do work well.

Bill just modify the inboard caster brackets to clear the defuser maybe a 90 bracket with gusset welded on then cut off the one the ear the inboard caster now fits on.

I have the OTC hydraulic versions and have used them with out issues on the rear.

Here was a past thread:

I am a GoJak dealer, their Model 4500 is the wide version made to handle up to 20" wide tires. I have had a set of GoJaks around here for at least 8 years and they still work as good as the day I bought them. If anyone needs GoJacks, drop me a line, prices below MSRP & $5.95 shipping.

Go Jack

Here is what we use. We made these to fit the standard Go Jacks. They have a peg that goes in the master control holes in the chassis and a little piece of rubber keeps them from scratching the chassis. It is a little harder to use since you have to jack the car up ,but for us it is perfect. This way we can still remove wheels, suspension, and body parts and still be able to roll the car around the shop. No matter what system you use you still have to extra careful not to put the rear dollies in too far causing damage to the diffuser when you start moving it around.

I have looked at all sorts of wheel dollies as well as talked to Jason several times and I finally bought a set of the 4500 Go Jak's with the storage rack (The Model 4500 Super-Slick is for tires as wide as 20"). I used them today on the GT and the "61" F100 without any problems at all. I wanted to make this post for others who may have reservations about purchasing wheel dollies for their GT. Jason wasn't able to provide the dollies for me so a quick search on Google I was able to find and purchase (1K with storage rack and shipping) them within minutes. I must say his recommendation was spot on and for that I need to say THANK YOU JASON.:cheers
