When you are an illegal alien! Then most of the laws that are enforced upon mostly law biding citizens, are ignored. I guess this is about "fair enforcement", just like paying your "fair share" of taxes.
The government is so much smarter than I, because I thought fair had a completely different meaning.

as a LEO friend of mine says ... "there are a lot of laws on the books ... that we NEVER enforce unless we get "pissed" at the person in the car." At the end of the day the fine if caught often is less than the original offense.
Mo. is a front plate state yet on one occasion when I did get a ticket I took a picture of the car to court with the question "would you drill a hole in this car your Honor?" The case was dismissed...
Most LEO's look at the cameras as harassing also and could care less about films, covers or whatever unless they know you're a nut on the road they look the other way.
If you live in a rural area and get to know most of the LEO's you'll get warnings for things with a wink and a nudge long before you'll ever get a ticket especially if they know you're a LEO booster.

The ones that nailed me in Paradise, Az. took a front shot of me behind the wheel and caught the rear plate. I never run a front plate.
One of the disadvantages of living in a small(er) town if one own's something like a FGT is that "the locals" all KNOW who's car it is. BELIEVE me. So, one can use all the sprays, films, 'camo', mirrors, or James Bond 'plate flippers one wants - yur still gunna be 'dead meat'. They'll know who to send the ticket to. :bored :willy :frown

I guess it pays to know the roads you are driving. My question to anyone who has encountered the speed cameras is do they set off your radar detector? They have some of those generic flashing "slow down" radar things going in and out of Baker on the way to Vegas, but I don't think I have ever encountered the highway speed cams.

The problem with all radar is getting enough reaction time to slow down.
The new Escort has a gps system where the user can mark known falses and I think known speed traps such as photo locations.
Detectors work great if your in the middle of a pack of cars. When your on point or tail you better take extra care.
My gps unit has known photo radar sites alerts in Europe and the UK

Speed cameras don't set off the radar detector, at least not the ones on Shea Blvd in Scottsdale.. There is a unit you can buy that alerts you when a speed camera is coming up and it gives you enough time to slow down. This is all based on someone reporting that a camera is in that location and the device utilizes GPS for your position verses the speed camera's location and sounds when you're near one.
The first time I drove the 101 (about 2001), my daughter & I were headed to her home from the Sky Harbor Airport area. The posted speed was 65. I was in the right lane doing about 68. Traffic was whizzing by like I was alongside the road changing a tire.
I could tell my daughter was gritting her teeth, and she finally said, "Dad. Look. You're driving like a blue hair. Lemme explain th' driving rules here in The Valley. On the freeways - 20 over. On surface streets - 10 over...OR YOU'LL GET RUN OVER! 'Only exception: school zones. You don't EVEN wanna go 1 mph 'over' in those or you WILL get a ticket. Now, COME ON! Let's GO! ...Krymuny!"

Fortunately where I live is semi-rural and has yet to catch up with this type of technology. We have a few stop light cams and that is it.
Very happy with my V1 detector....but even with the "spray" on the plates I would definitely be slowing down in the big brother speed cam areas if I lived there. Maybe we should have levels of drivers licenses....like prove your ability to show good judgement, not speed in ridiculous traffic situations, no swerving lane change BS and you get a 10-15mph waiver on the top speed limit during non-peak times.
