Use extreme caution if using your tow hooks

anyone sell wheel baskets

A pile of clean towels might be easier to carry around than a full set of tie downs / wheel baskets (as we have so much storage). All ramp trucks should (i say should) have a set of nylon tie downs, that you can lace through the wheels to hold down the car. The clean towels will protect the wheel finish (at least it has worked for me).......

Check the towing threads and trailer threads, sources are there. Ford specs wheel baskets. We have had this socalled debate, every car left the factory with a yellow warning label to that effect.

Thanks! That begs the question of how more force can be safely applied to the tow hook. I sure it is designed to be used to move the GT on a level paved road, but what about pulling up an incline on a unpaved gravel surface? eg. GFB your GT fell into a ditch!

This is who i call when my car gets stuck.

Sure doesn't look like the tow operators I've used. Professional or not.

Bony is right. Not very many tow trucks have the rails in the bed for the baskets, but if you look around you will find them.

The photo is a great warning, and I will be all the more careful now that I have seen it.

BTW, I have trailered my car on many occasions, and I always use the tow hook to pull the car into the trailer. Of course, doing so requires that I pull the car up the incline of the loading ramp. So far, no sign of any trouble. However, I use only wheel straps to secure the car, and I unhook the cable from the tow hook after the car is in position.

One would certainly believe that the Ford engineers would have contemplated pulling the car up an incline when designing the two hook anchor. However, I'm equally sure that they could not have contemplated the single digit I.Q.s of some tow truck drivers...

Then they've never heard the ol' saying, "When someone creates anything that's idiot proof - someone ELSE will come up with a bigger idiot." (...or something like that.)

I haver heard about this happening, thanks for posting pictures. A picture is worth a thousand words.

Tim the photo was only repeated 3 times. When did you find time to count the words in the posts? You must be spending too much time reading deposition recaps.

Fubar this must have been taken "between" your GT's!

I love your work.... :biggrin
