Anyone have the torque settings for the upper and lower, front and rear shocks. Can't find it anywhere in my notes or manual.

Thanks

Also, once use bolts according to the manual as are the brake caliper bolts.

Also, once use bolts according to the manual

NOT according to the 2006 Service manual. All bolts for the struts can be re-used. The nyloc nut on the rear lower shock is called out to be replaced.

Brake caliper bolts are, however, one time use.

Are the '05 and '06 manuals different with respect to the shock assembly mounting bolts?

Here is a page from an 05 manual. Kendall can you post the page from the 06 manual.

No - I have both manuals, and they are the same. Only the Nut is to be discarded and replaced.

Clinton - look at page 204-02-12

Can't seem to find the page, I have the DVD version. I don't see any goto page feature. Can you post a pdf of the page?

Clinton:

I don't have a pdf file, but here is a picture I took of 2005 page 201-02-12 showing the removal and installation of the rear shock (Hope you can read it), and 2005 page 201-01-11 of the front shock. I checked my 2006 manual, and it is identical. This 2nd picture should be the same as your CD - but obviously isn't, as yours (sh.pdf) definitely says to remove and discard the upper and lower bolts. Hmmmmm....

Clinton inadvertently posted the page to the front control arm removal instead of the front shock removal. My '06 manual also says to discard the control arm bolts.

Clinton's post of the rear shock removal instructions is clear - and is explicit about discarding the bolts. I have no doubt that Clinton is right about the same for the front shock.

That said, this is a clear difference between the two (2005 vs 2006) manuals!

Strange. (I have an '05 manual at home too so I will confirm that my 2005 edition is the same as Clinton's.... though I will probably choose to follow the 2006 manual assuming it was a conscious update.)

I wonder if Helm publishes addenda and errata to their manuals? I've never seen it in their list of publications.

Thanks Guys! Could not find either on my DVD. Guess I am off to the Ford dealer to order bolts. :(

maybe we need to develop a discard parts list so when we do a project on one of the girls (or maint. like this situation (leaking shocks)) we can order all the parts in advance. :willy
