I can't believe that acerbic bitch from California is gonna be speaker of the house. :lol

Like it makes a difference. Let me know when the earmarks, pork, omnibus bills, etc, stop. Oh wait, they won't because both parties spend like drunken whores. For all the vitriolic hate that gets spewed back and forth, you'd assume the difference between the two would be substantive enough that elections didn't come down to who banged who when...:bored

I'm absolutely disgusted by Nancy Pelosi.... that woman is toxic, and I'm embarrassed for our country. to have that bitch in any position of authority and yet the Dems seem to be proud of her arogant ass... :thumbsdow

The results of the election do not surprise me though... our Republican leadership has done a piss poor job managing the Iraq situation, and an even worse job managing the media coverage of the war... and when left up to the gullible general public (which is our chosen system) the votes showed that it's time for a change. I hope my President is up to the challenge.

God Bless the USA.

Democrat platform.

So let me get this straight. You're gonna raise taxes, you're gonna make sure we never drill for oil anywhere ever again, but you bitch constantly about our "dependance" on foreign oil, more regulations, partial birth abortion, cut and run in Iraq, negotiate with terrorists, and start the impeachment hearings. This is necessary because our stock market is at an all time high, the economy is in great shape, unemployment is at an all time low of 4.4%, and we have not had a successful terrorist attack in the U.S.A. since 9-11-01. WE NEED A NEW DIRECTION!!! And since our economy is about the best it's ever been the new direction has got to be down. :thumbsdow

O.K. sounds good to me. You got America's vote!! Go get 'em tiger. :frown

Christ, somebody sit with me till I get over this. I've got 'Suicide Hotline' on speed dial. :ack

Don't worry about it Chip :lol All part of the cyclical meanderings of our legislative branch. Year 6 of a two-termer always ends up bad for incumbents.

That said, I have a hard time reconciling the fact that people are so apathetic towards the foundations of this country that they would purposely vote for people who will undoubtedly raise taxes. 35% is too much for anyone to pay already. We waste $9 billion a year in EITC overpayments. How about you don't do that and knock a percent or two off? My first instinct is to say "well, if the government didn't spend so recklessly people wouldn't be alright with that". However, I'm not going to kid myself and think most people think that deep.

I'm going to buy a new gun next week before they melt all those down too :lol

That wasn't directed at me correct? Just because I'm young doesn't mean I vote democrat :lol

I was debating politics at work today with one (I know bad idea) and brought up that since social security is about to come to an end, that people my age (18) should be able to privately invest their retirement. You would have thought I suggested we shoot the poor for mentioning that. Funny how the democrats try to play the media to get my vote as a young person, yet when one of the few issues that concern us come up (like this one) Ted Kennedy’s fat ass was on CNN saying how horrible of an idea this was before he had time to research the presidents handouts (I’m referring to when Bush announced a similar, less drastic program than mine before congress).

The next issue I felt strongly about was that each person should be required to pay a certain amount into taxes each year similar to the “fair tax”. He agreed that 10% would be fair………BUT the rich should have to pay 20-30% because they have more money (oh great, Robin hood comes to life). My argument was that those who receive the most help form the government should pay more, and those who don’t receive any help should pay less. WOW, that went over like crap. My family is not rich by any means, but we do have 5 bed 2.5 bath 3000 sq ft home, and have been fortunate enough to enjoy life by watching spending. However, just because someone else has more money than we do, I fail to see where they owe that money to us for any reason??? Do we really want to DISCOURAGE success by making it more lucrative to become 2nd and 3rd generations receiving welfare?

Our county is extremely liberal, unfortunately. When I was making $8/hr in high school at a photo lab, and my friends at McDonalds were working for $5.45/hr I was getting rewarded for learning Photoshop and making myself more valuable. Well then we raised the minimum wage. Did I get a raise? No. Did goods cost more within a few months? Yes. So once again it was discouraging self improvement. The argument was literally made at a local debate that I had to attend for school that people can’t support a family on $5.45/hr. SINCE WHEN ARE WE RECOMMENDING RAISING A FAMILEY ON MINIMUM WAGE? LEARN BIRTH CONTROL FOR GODS SAKE!

I could go on with personal viewpoints but I’ll leave it at the ones I feel most strongly about there. Republicans need to regroup, stop the insane spending, and get serious about ending the war. I can’t think of any time in history that any nation has tried to be so politically correct in fighting a war, and I’m afraid that this is a huge reason for the loss of American life. Fortunately, the democrats finally have some responsibility with the majority, so in 2008 when the presidential election comes, they will have to have come up with a better idea, rather than just mocking those who are actually DOING something.

Mardyn,
Repost it all you like.

jj1987,
No, my post was not directed at you. It was directed at everyone that voted to "change direction" when things are going well. I will however, direct something at your last post about anybody "getting us out of the war". Even if one thinks that Iraq was not part of the war on terror, it is now. Nobody, Democrat or Republican, can get us out of this war. We can cut and run in Iraq and bring the troops home. We can stop fighting in Iraq with soldiers and marines. And we will soon start fighting again. In New York, California, and Florida with firefighters and policemen. We can run but we can't hide. This war will go on whether we like it or not. All we can do is decide where we want to fight it. Over there with Marines or over here with Firemen. Yesterday, America chose over here. God help us.

My getting out was more aimed towards allowing troops to take care of buisness rather than keeping the war politically correct. :ack I almost feel like I'm the only one who remembers 9/11/01 at times. I can recall being 13 years old, kids getting checked out of my algebra class, worrying what was going on, being afraid to go to the mall, being afraid to go to the football stadium, being afraid of any public place because I had never experienced anything like that before. I remember the reaction to Bush's speech. We could have nuked every other country in existance with hardly any complaints from anyone. However, Bush held back to ensure we got the correct target from what I've seen, and when that happened, people slowly forgot.

I stand corrected. And when we finish in Iraq, the two best ways out are through Damascus and Tehran.......on the way to Pyongyang. Enough of this crap, it's time to finish this. As the great philosopher 'Popeye the Sailor Man' once said, "That's all I can stand and I can't stand no more".

:rofl

i was actually debating with my SUPEEERRR liberal government teacher today. He thinks people in higher tax brackets dont work as hard as people in lower tax brackets. Which is obviously a quite ignorant remark...but what would you expect from a hippy government teacher making $25,000 a year? No offense to teachers. In comparison to other wars where we were helping out other countries, (Vietnam, Korea, WWII), and protecting ourselves from potential attacks, the war in Iraq has had a quite low loss of troops, losing only 3,000 in 5 years. I believe the worst thing we could possibly do is to pull our troops out which will accomplish nothing. In the history of our country, the party controlling the White House nearly always loses seats in the mid-term election. Especially in the sixth year. This was the case with Roosevelt, Eisenhower, JFK/Lyndon Johnson, Nixon/Ford, and in my opinion, our greatest President, Ronald Reagan. The Democrats are now back-tracking what they voted for 5 years ago. The war in Iraq. While the Democrats want to cut and run in Iraq. I believe we should stick with the republicans point of view to "stay until we win"....but what would i know im just a girl, not even old enough to vote! BUT i like ford GTs so i must know something, right? or is that left? :cheers
