Ford applied for a new patient on March 26. The motor looks to be quite different from anything they are doing now. It's a bit to technical for me to fully decipher.

Glad to see they are still bring out new ideas. :thumbsup

Autoblog, says that this is the next diesel truck motor, replacing the Navistar. It is code named the Scorpion

This is d-e-f-i-n-a-t-e-l-y one instance where one "cut away picture" is worth, oh I don't know - 300,000 words??? :willy:willy:willy

It has off-set cylinders... does that mean they are staggered on the same bank? It also looks like the intake is on the side and the exhaust goes up thru the middle? Wild stuff.

There are many turbocharged motors in Ford's pipeline.

I was picturing a "w" cyl. configuration sorta similiar to the Bentley W-12...but the wording on the link is a bit too foggy for me...

Who is Ford going to sue if they make their own diesels in house? Seriously, Ford has some great powertrains coming. Go Ford!

This patent is further proof that Ford will remain the dominant US, if not global auto maker! I'm glad that I am a shareholder!

How'd you like that run today? All the way to $3.98? I'm only pissed I didn't buy more in the $1.50-$2.50 range. Either way, I thought about selling today and buying a whole neighborhood in Detroit :lol

5.0L DOHC 32-valve V8 that makes 400hp N/A. Wonder if turbos would fit on that...hmm...

I am looking at this a bit differently.
I question whether-

FORD GLOBAL TECHNOLOGIES, LLC

is

Ford Motor Company

Dave, can you say?

Why would not the patent be in the name of FOMOCO?

Couldn't tell ya. Their patents are all over the place. The design of the FGT is actually in Camilo's name.

Wow, that is certainly interesting.

All the companies I have worked for have had very strong intellectual property rights contracts. Which you sign as a condition of employment. Companies usually lay claim to any and all your creative thoughts leading to patentable gizmos.....

Definitely appears the same.

That's the GT patent and it lists the same "Global Technologies".

Global Technologies is the 'holding company' for Ford's intellectual property.
