A number of threads on this board have referenced a mushy feeling downshifting into first gear. I too have had this problem and it looks as if my dealer has diagnosed the root cause.
After removing the center console the delar noticed a plastic clip had broken that is used to hold one of the linkage cables securley to the tunnel. Apparenly the mushy feeling was in fact the shift cable moving fore and aft as a result of the broken clip.
Also had the filler neck replaced without fully removing fender or disturbing rivets! Solved the stall/check engine light problem.
