This months Classic & Sports car Magazine (that UK mag that costs $10)
has a feature on a GT40 Targa/Open roof that was thought lost, but was stashed in a storage garage after a crash; Ford SV folks hid it v. crushing it....gotta love them Brits

It has been restored, and is very rare.

I would post scans, but I am a dinasour still emerging from dot-matrix tar pits......:ack

"Lost GT40 unearthed during Olympic dig
Category: Latest NewsA very historic, early GT40 which has long been listed as scrapped by Ford Advanced Vehicles was discovered in a London lock-up during demolition work for the London Olympic Games. Last summer the original tub was saved, and taken to GT40 specialist Andy Newell at Gelscoe Motorsport, where it was examined by specialists including model guru Ronnie Spain.
“I was sceptical at first but nearly collapsed when I saw it,” said Spain. “There’s no question at all that GT/111 is an absolutely original GT40 roadster chassis.”
Legend has it that after the crashed car returned from the Targa Florio it was ordered to be scrapped. Once stripped of usable parts, the tub was cut in two across the cockpit. The scrap man was tipped off by FAV workers, and the remains were stashed away until unearthed last year.
The restoration is going well for new owner Philip Walker, with a Goodwood Revival debut possible. “We had a choice of which way to restore it,” said Walker. “It first appeared at the Le Mans test day as a white closed car with Borrani wires, but reappeared on the Targa as a Lyndon green roadster riding on Halibrands to satisfy sponsor Goodyear. We’ve gone for the latter, and have now located an original body from its sister car 112.”
