Gearshifter getting a bit 'heavy'

After now 3500miles (driven hard in comparison), the gearshifter gets a bit heavier, meaning it shows more resistance to shift though the gears. Even when the car is hot.
What could be the cause, what could be a cure, and has anyone else noticed this !?
Should I change the trans oil ? Anyhow, just about to install the short shifter, so coming back to the buttersweet shifts of the early days would be highly welcomed here..
thanks

Stefan, I just got in my car after 3 weeks off. It too seemed stiff. Had to put about 100 miles (160 KM) before it was back to the old feeling. It has been much cooler here. My advice, quit feeding it Viagra.

Sounds odd. Have you checked the fluid levels? Could the linkage be misaligned somehow?

I assume it's a self adjusting clutch cable on the GT (no idea).

My car did the exact opposite. After about 2000 miles the transmission and clutch got loose and silky. I did change the transmission fluid and engine oil at 2500 miles tho.

On that car, changing the transmission fluid should be a regular occurrence. Especially sense it only cost about $200. What does it cost on that 430?

I am looking for an update from anyone on this "shifting issue". I live in Minneapolis, and it has been getting down to about 40 degrees here. I have about 2200 miles on the car, have had fluid changes already. I notice when the car starts out cold, the shift into first gear can be stiff and the shift from first gear to second gear seems slightly "clunky", like the synchro is not meshing properly. As the car warms up when driving, say 10-15 minutes, this goes away and shifting is smooth. I can run through all the other gears when "cold" and they shift like "butter". I did not notice this when temps were in the 70s and 80s. Any thoughts from you guys who have driven the cars for a while? Is this a normal expectation with lower temps? Could this be a shifter cable adjustment needed as the car is worn in? I have not done any "speed shifting" or other types of hard driving, yet. Thanks for any input you can provide.

DH-

Your experience is normal and typical. Shift from first to third until the tranny is warm.

For what it is worth both Mike the Master Tech and Polito Ford in Canada and I found that the OEM shifter when removed was DRY. No lubricant to be found any where. Now this maybe normal and yet we both found it odd and chatted about it.

Or make a long slow shift, and "mesh" the gears with the throttle.

Shifting To Second When Cold

Second gear is on the top of the gearset so these synchros are the last to receive lube and to warm up---just double clutch into second when cold until it all warms up.
