clutch problems

I just took delivery of a "new" 2005 GT that had 113 miles on it.
After 10 or 15 miles, the clutch will not release completely....for example it will not allow smooth shifts, or will not allow getting into gear without "double clutching", both up and down, and gives trouble going into first or reverse when stopped. I checked the clutch fluid level and it is OK.

Any thoughts?

I live in a rather remote area. Can any Ford dealer help with the warranty?

Hmmmm....

Well I doubt the slave cylinder is knackered - it sounds like the bite point is set too high, in which case that's probably a pedal or cable adjustment.

Does the clutch pedal feel firm when depressing it?

Couldn't be air in there I suppose.

There's people here who are far more capable of suggesting cures than me - but those are my instant thoughts.

The clutch pedal does not have much resistance....and no feel.

I could not see any air bubbles in the clutch reservoir. But, the fluid was somewhat brownish. I don't know if that's usual. The fluid is darker than the brake fluid.

Where is the clutch pedal adjustment?

The clutch is hydraulic. You have to bleed it as you would your brakes. There will be a bleed nipple on the slave cylinder. The fact that you don't see any bubbles in the reservoir is not telling of air that you may have in the line.
