bad news... alfa will not return to the USA

Just received a letter via FEDEX returning my deposit for a new Alfa. They will not return to the USA until MY 2013. :frown:thumbsdow:frown

What a pity! I love those cars. I too had one on the radar screen. I have just sold my 1991 Spyder Veloce ( actually gave it away!) to a lovely young gal from Lake Norman, NC. She a car nut and well deserving of it.

Really sad, but understand the situation. Was offered a front of line position on a California but it does not stir my soul. Saw it at the debut and again down in LA.
I'm sure something will come along.

I imagine the reason is the economy, but why would Alfa walk away from the market that would still take the majority of their new 8C (and $250,000+ model) production? I wonder if there was DOT/EPA type headaches as well?
