Well, after a two-year build and a lot of fun on the track, it's time to say goodbye to my Shelby clone. I ran 10-12 track sessions with it (including a special one with Tomy Hamon as passenger). The car was stupid fun, no brakes, wiggly/squirmy bias-ply tyres and the ability to Break traction at any speed. How in hell they drove these things in endurance races back in the day is beyond me.

The new owner collected it last night. He bought the original 5R108 at Monterey last year and realized that when the restoration of his is finished, he won't be able to race a car that's worth $1 million +. So, now he has mine for less than ten percent of the real one and will be able to thrash it with impunity. Hope he enjoys it as much as I did!

A little sad to see it go although it's going to the right owner. Thank You David for honoring my family's past with this perfectly built reproduction. In 52 years I had forgot just how hard the GT350R was to handle on a race track until my ride last week. Wow, what an experience and a thrill. To know this reproduction will be sitting next to the original 1965 GT350R #108 makes the hair stand up on my arms. This is a perfect replica with even more power and attitude while eating up the track. I realized how spoiled we all are driving our Ford GT's and numerous other late model thoroubreds while watching David manhandling this brute on the track. Thanks again David and now onward and upward to our New GT. I'm Blessed when I realized how everything in my life has "Come along and Come Around Again".

Now I am looking for a friend who wants a 2017 GT350R close to or at MSRP. Here is an ad I am going to show him. LOL

From what I can tell it looks like 475 GT350Rs were made in 2016 with an estimate of 500+ for 2017. Production is planned until 2019 or 2020. So MSRP soon will be the norm.

Finally seeing some in the $8x,xxx range. Still way to high. Normal GT350s are below MSRP now.

Has anyone looked at what it would take to create an R equivalent from a base 350? Not 100%, but the essentials.

From what I've heard the production of the GT350R will continue thru the 2018 model year only. It's pure speculation beyond that, unless you know something that is not public information. Getting one at MSRP is laughable. Unless you want a 2016 with lots of miles that has been beat on, that MIGHT be a MSRP car one day down the road. ADM's on new cars are not going down at this time.

ADMs are going down on GT350Rs. They will be made for at least 4 years with only minor changes. If you don't believe me: wait & see!

My friend just bought a GT350R in OR for $2K ADM. They are coming down.

My story is I have a NGT allocation so I asked 2 of the signed up delivery dealers in my area (one of them is the only signed up service dealer) if they would sell a GT350R to my friend for MSRP if I requested my NGT to be delivered to them & they both not only turned me down by scoffed at me. The owners were supposed to call me to discuss it but no one has called me yet.

^^^^That appears to be a standard GT350. No red front Cobra badge, no red calipers, no carbon fiber wing. And an "R" would be closer to $68,000 MSRP.

Agree. Looks like a regular GT350. I've seen them on Autotrader for up to $5k below MSRP.

We met a guy at Sebring who was getting an R at MSRP but his friend owned the dealership. That's the only time I've heard of any deals...when you have great connections with the dealer.

I asked the product expert at the Ford booth about how many years the GT350R would be made, and he didn't know. Hoping the GT500 comes out and drives down the ADM on these. Its making the Camaro ZL1/1LE look tempting.

Yep, that's a GT350. A buddy of mine was chasing down a GT350R when they first came out and had more than one dealer claim they had an "R" because they saw the registered trademark "r" on the sticker.

350Rs are still selling in the 90 range, been offered 90 by 3 different people and 92 from one fella for my 17 but holding out for a little more. Really just want to keep it is the problem.

Yeah that "r" had me going when I first saw it on the sticker. Confusing as hell.
