    Default Emergency Door Edge Protection

Thought I would pass this idea on.

I have already been in a tight space with the GT, and of course worry about banging my door (don't care about their door ) as I do the "crawl out".

I have started carrying two pieces of 12 inch long soft foam tube that is used for pipe insultation - the gray stuff with the slit (ACE and Homedepot carry it). I am using the 1 1/2 inch diameter. I leave it behind the drivers seat (you can reach the area while you are in the seat).

In that cramped exit situation, you can use the foam (while you are in the car) to line the high points or other part of the door edge that may come into contact with something. It is soft and easy to conform, and simply slips over the edge and will hold itself in place.

Not exactly rocket science, but may save a door ding when you don't have someone to stand in between (or even if you do).
