Cool read and great pics. Did you go to the GT40 seminar yesterday as well, and did you get to meet/listen to Dan Gurney? Thanks Martyn.

My weekend at Amelia plans got screwed up, had my media credentials and even seats on my friend's TBM 700 making it just a 45-minute commute. Waited too long to try and get a room and it was my wife's birthday, everything fell apart.

And these gems thrown in for good measure.

The slab side Cobra was perfect.

Since the designers of the Miura drew some inspiration from the GT, these pictures are appropriate too. The convertible is a one off.

For those who don't know the story, the #6 Mark I was the winner of the 1969 LeMans (the same car won in 1968 too). An epic battle between Jacki Ickx in the GT40 and Hans Herrmann in the Porsche 908. Closest LeMans finish ever-the GT40 ahead at the finish by about 390 feet. The finish is at 7:40 on this video:

Great photos, Sinovac. I was there and it was a memorable day. Marty, how did I miss you? BTW, was I the ONLY Forum guy who showed up at the Mercedes Pavilion at noon? I went around yelling, "Any Ford GT owners here?" Everyone thought I was crazy.

Howard,

I was there at noon. Sorry I missed you. I didn't stay long though since I was told there was a crazy man running around yelling incoherently. :lol

Imagine now how great it would be to see these cars trading paint and ripping around the track like at Goodwood. They're all just sitting there...

This maroon GT40 Mark III is the 4th (of the 7) I've seen (silver at Peterson Museum, blue at Miller Motorsports Park museum, and white at Ford of England). Any idea where it is stored or displayed, or the current owner?

Holy cow guys. Those pictures just blow me away. Wow.
That must have been phenomenal to see all those GT 40s together.
The only car that makes my heart race is the Muira and they were there too?!??!

This maroon GT40 Mark III is the 4th (of the 7) I've seen (silver at Peterson Museum, blue at Miller Motorsports Park museum, and white at Ford of England). Any idea where it is stored or displayed, or the current owner?

Chassis: M3/1103
Completed in April of 1969, chassis 1103 was famously sold to Sir Max Aitken, who was the chairman of Beaverbrook Newspapers. It was sold on in 1973 and extensively modified by its new owner. Among the changes were the adoption of flared fenders and alloy wheels, while the Mk III was also re-sprayed white with blue stripes. By the early 1980s it had changed hands again. The new custodian entrusted the rare GT40 for many years to Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, who prominently displayed it in the British National Motor Museum.

After nearly three decades the owners retrieved the car and quietly offered it for sale. The current owner acquired the Mk III soon after and entrusted it to CKL Developments, for a careful restoration to its original configuration. Having covered only 6,400 miles from new, preservation was the key word in the project. The later changes to the body were rectified and the correct wire wheels were re-fitted. The finishing touch was a re-spray to the original deep red finish. Chassis 1103 made its post-restoration debut at the 2012 Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este where it was awarded the Trofeo BMW Group Classic by the jury for the most sensitive restoration.

The above text isn't mine. Most of the pictures of this car show it with the white/blue stripe paint it had for many years while at the National Motor Museum.
