But, perhaps the final chapter was the Camaro vs. Mustang wars, culminating in the ZL1 vs. GT500.

Sounds like a comfy stable work environment over there.....
Ewanick was a dick, but it doesn't surprise me when anyone gets the boot over there.
I'm still befuddled over the Man U thing. Why would Chevrolet fork out a couple hundred million dollars (estimates as high as $600 million?) to sponsor a soccer team in a region where Chevy isn't even really sold (outside of Corvette)? Even if you've mentally committed to killing Vauxhall and Opel (good luck with that), Chevy is a non-existent brand in Europe. I guess you could be trying to cash in on all those Indian Man U fans, but how much is that market worth for your advertising if they can't even keep the power on?
Personally, I think Akerson's PE and Wall Street buddies were all over him with knives out because Ewanick publicly submarined Facebook on the eve of it's IPO. A lot of people lost a lot of money on that deal, and having the CMO of a $10 million annual advertiser saying "I don't know if there's any value to advertising here" just before your IPO is a pretty easy target for some of the blame.

First it's pretty tires. Next it's pretty guns. Then the next thing you know, you're shaving your beard and wearing capri pants.
Dave, I think you nailed it right there...and with the underperforming sales it was a must do for GM.Personally, I think Akerson's PE and Wall Street buddies were all over him with knives out because Ewanick publicly submarined Facebook on the eve of it's IPO. Although I do agree with him on the facebook topic and would have done the same. I do not see a future there.

Yeah, I wouldn't be dumping millions into advertising on Facebook either. That said, I would definitely keep my mouth closed during the launch of the darling-of-Wall-Street IPO roadshow.
"What??? You're telling me a business with $1 billion in quarterly revenues shouldn't have a $100 billion valuation???"
Who could have possibly seen that coming?![]()
