That varies alot from place to place ..... just recently had the chance of doing 2 parade laps on the full Le Mans circuit .... all the overtaking you could do safely and as fast as you could go .... saw 130+ down the Mulsanne ... with wife and kid in the car so had to be careful

I understated my desire with the term "parade lap," and I apologize, but Copenhagen GT...I like your version!

I have attended 3 rallies, and I must compliment them all for being both fun as well as safe. Each driver can choose which group to run with, and if you want to try your car - fast but safe - you will most certainly fit right in ......

    Cheers

Still, I'd like to feel free to explore some moderately extra-legal speeds - safely and without looking for cops in my mirror.

And...do I have to buy a helmet just for this?
So that raises a question ; does anybody do anything special for insurance at the rally, or you just winging it?

For a HPDE, the rally is REALLY tame and low key, to say there is a range of drivers is an understatement. Many would never even consider doing this if it was not the GT rally. Also many have never been on a track before a rally. But if your skills grow, there are plenty of fast guys to run with and also learn from. We are also happy to give rides to see what 8-10th's feel like (well maybe 9-10th's from time to time).

First it's pretty tires. Next it's pretty guns. Then the next thing you know, you're shaving your beard and wearing capri pants.

As long as it's not a race "timed completive event" my Safeco insurance covers me on the track. I drive 7-8/10 & consider that fast. A parade lap is like driving on the neighborhood streets - more like 1/10. The Novice group will be where you can drive slow on the track. Buy a helmet so you won't have to share sweat with someone. A balaclava doesn't help with sweat!

The rentals I have driven on the track at the rallies have all been breathing much more freely after having chased FGTs for a few days - no rust on the brakerotors either - but they have all held up exceptionally well with no signs of wear - not even the tires - but Ron also told me I was driving too slow
I was especially impressed by the Hertz Corvette at VIR - the Hertz Camaro at MMP not so much ... like trying to race an elephant in a Greyhound race ......

I would like to either rent a FR500S at the track - or bring my own if we find one in time for the Rally - but of course I will also bring a rental if possible Didnīt you see my question in the other thread regarding track time?

See ya - will register very soon
