Dang, the cat's out of the bag. I was hoping no one would notice. This one is mine. OK?:)

It is in consideration. I won't be able to attend but a friend will probably be putting a bid in on my behalf.

Hasn't this one (The Parnelli Jones Ford GT) gone through before?

By the way, Dave is the Pelican Box guy. Great gear for rafting. I have a new camera that I need to get one for.

Anyone interested in a Grand Canyon rafting trip?

    Red 2005 w/2500 miles.

It went for $150K....plus BJ's take.

    Great weather here today.

Chris A and I stopped by to check out Don and his Hennessey booth. Man, does he have some outrageous rides.

kjslider picked up a gorgeous black/red '62 Thunderbird Sports Roadster!!! .....ooops, and a '69 Corvette w/427 Rat. Schweeeeet!!

You should have seen the '99 Prowler that Sam missed for $18K

I am not seeing the advantage of buying at an auction........unless you want to be on Speed TV as you make your purchase based on faith.

    just sayin............

I can agree with you on the GT which basically sold for list. OK, no PPI. So you have to make your own decision if you think a GT with under 2500 miles and spotless...coming out of a renown collection.....is not a good idea. No upside at the auction possibly.

On the other hand, there have been some outstanding deals at this auction. The cream is still pulling strong money though.

The only sale out of whack that I can tell would be the VW Bus for $192K.

I saw some customs that I have been drooling over for years go for the price of their paint jobs.

What is the Auctions take? 15% That's additional $22k if right.

Not saying the car has a problem. Just not my cup of tea to buy that way.

    The bargains are another story.

    Buyer's commission = 10%

    ...basically retail.

I have been attending auctions since the mid-80's pre-dating TV coverage. Perhaps attending an auction will help in understanding what thousands of others see in their value.

Fair enough. I am basing my opinion on watching it on TV and seeing things like Craig Barrett getting mad and starting to bid against someone in the crowd to drive the price up to where he thought it should be (I think he ended up buying the car?). His show, his right. Just not the way I would want to be buying a car.

Just got a call from a buddy who said that the word on the street is that 35-40% of the cars that went across the block at OC BJ were bought back by the original owner.
