What is the best tire for the GT?

Hi

Any input on the 3 different RE050As listed at TireRack? I would like to see which one did you end up with?

Potenza RE05a Pole Position, with a 95Y rating;
Potneza RE05a, with a 95Y rating; and
Potenza RE05a, with a 99Y rating.

In particular, I'm more interested to know between the Pole Position vs the non-Pole Position, since I understand the difference between the 95Y vs 99Y rating.

I'd like to know too. I'm getting rid of the Goodyears and have ordered the Potenza Scuderias for the rear, but I don't know exactly which one to get on the front.

Hoosiers are my choice. It's like getting free H.P., better brakes, and increased cornering capabilities. Also realize they did testing with Ford for the GT.

Gentlemen,

I do not drive my car in the rain although I have been caught out in the rain on my Hoosiers. So on the way home on wet roads I steped on the brakes pretty hard several times and took a few low speed corners harder than normal when no traffic was around to see what would happen. The answer....nothing. I didn't go sliding off the road.

I'm sure that street tires would be far better in wet conditions and I would not drive 80 mph on wet freeways on my Hoosiers, but driving home in the rain on them is not a death defying experience.

AND....when it's dry, I feel 10x more secure on any road with the R-6s. The back end of my GT was sliding like driving on marbles with the hard rubber Goodyears. And on street tires every corner at the track was a tire squeeling semi-slide ragged edge of disaster adventure.

My GT on R-6s sticks like glue on the track with no squeeling at speeds that would have me skidding into the wall on the Goodyears. I agree with Roketman, you need to experience the Hoosiers to fathom how much better they are. 4000 to 5000 miles can be expected depending on how hard you use them.
