    Default Dr Colorchip works!!!

A few months ago several of us where chatting about chip repair products. Well recently I caught a few chips to my daily driver and had a product recommended so on a lark I also bought a small bottle for the GT as well.

It is a fairly straight forward process.

    Clean area with clean prep.

apply paint, then lightly smear it to smooth out the area

wait 2min to 2 hours ( about five works great)

Apply #2 and lightly rub to fine smooth the paint.

then immediately puff to shine (lightly)

With practice and the right technique the repair is flawless.

Paint is perfectly matched. Is hand mixed when you order it and the kit ships immediately.

attached photos. (sorry for the poor quality photos but in person it is smooth and matches perfectly.)

Where did you order it from? I checked their main website and didn't see how they facilitate retail orders.

    http://www.drcolorchip.com/

Go to bottom of page. Add the kit that you want (the small one is more than enough but you might run short on the #2)

it will take you to another page where you add your information and paint codes. (I added my vin also)

then you pay for the item. They will send you a confirmation email the next day. I asked for the owner to call me on the GT paint. He did and we had a nice chat about the product. Overall the company is quite easy to work with .. not a large operation but quality product.

    hope that helps.

both sides had some chip damage when I bought the car in those spots but not a major issue. I forgot to take a photo of the same side during the process so there is a back and forth in the pics. Oh well, now you know why I don't have a DIY show on TV.

Now I wait three days and Zaino the cr@p out of that area! LOL!!

Can this stuff really match the metallic colors like Midnight Blue, Silver and Tungsten? My belief from the right angle and lighting the repair will be readily visible. The best one can hope for is that under typical conditions the repair will not standout.

I think you will have the much better chance with the black. Good luck. I look forward to your report.

My BMW is Jet Black and 1161 is Midnight blue. The black was harder than the blue to be honest. But then again I have 6 coats of Zaino on the BMW.

The BMW paint is soft and the chips where deeper where the GT paint is harder and the chips are shallow.

In either case the paint is PERFECTLY matched ... and anyone who really knows me knows how ANAL I am about my cars.

Ok here comes the disclaimer .. I am not in anyway shape or form involved with the company nor have I been compensated in anyway and although I am endorsing this product I refuse to do so on TV.

I did say with practice and technique the repair is A+ ... personal results may vary. But on the issue of color .. its a match ... would I put a chip paint on MY beloved Ford Gt if it was not? The 08 BMW was the guinea pig ...
