I am reading 4200 lbs on a couple different sites.

The 4200# number is largely regarded as fake news, but we'll see. I think it will be hard to get the weight up that high. With the GT350 around 3700lbs, its hard to imagine adding 500 lbs. I believe I read the DCT didnt add any weight.

The 720 HP number was on that same "leaked" spec sheet as the 4200 lbs. When it was "leaked" last year, there were some lengthy articles about why the document was a fake.

I saw a corner balance (from Vorshlag?) Of a base 2016 Mustang GT (small brakes) that weighed over 3,800lbs.

I hope your right. Would rather not track a 4200 lbs car. I'm hoping the DCT is not heavier than the Tremec's on the GT350. This would be a nice mod for existing GT350 track cars when the DCT becomes available. The Holinger gearbox on the GT4 is more than $25,000.

DCTs are heavier than manuals.

Figure it will push around 4000+ lbs. The DCT will add hydraulic components to accomplish the shifting which will add weight. The SC will add weight. The intercooler(s) will add weight. To the degree that Ford has done their homework to allow the car to have at least a few laps on a road coarse, there will be additional cooling - radiators, brackets, and coolant. Rear seat delete option will help fractionally - allowing removal of the belts and retractors.

If you're looking at a car for more dedicated track duty, an NA GT350 would likely be a better choice.

I agree with Kendall on the 350, the new 500 needs to go on a diet regardless of the BHP and torque values. I’m no talent you can write home about when it comes to track use, but I just finished a 2 days M track event with BMW and my time in an M2 was so much better than my time in an M5 which packs a considerable bHP advantage.

I realize it will not be the best car for doing laps, but I bet it will be like the GT and always leave you with that giddy childhood smile on your face. :biggrin I want one! (that is unless they put a DCT in a 350R, now that would be a fun car!)

001 at BJ just sold for 1.1 Million! I love that Ford does these type things for charity.

I talked to a guy who drove the GT500 at VIR. He said it is FAST on the track even with the extra weight. He was very impressed. That's what HP and aero can do for you.

How much does the new GT500 weigh? Is it less than the Demon? Someone told me it's over 4K lbs? Can't be.
