No. 66 GT of Olivier Pla and Stefan Mucke take the pole.

And in "cheaters never prosper (if they get caught) news," Dempsey-Proton stripped of all points in GTE-Am for fraudulent datalogging transmissions (maybe the Russians did it).

Ferrari 488 EVO? Did they take advantage of the FIA window and evolve their car?

For those that wont click on the link above, this nugget was in that article

"Ford Keeping Door Open for Evo Kit

While having opted not to use its ‘joker’ for 2018, Ford hasn’t ruled out the possibility of taking advantage of the Evo kit allowance in the future.

It’s believed the American manufacturer had evaluated homologating a different-sized turbo, due to the power restrictions put on its 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.

“We definitely looked at some things that we could do for an evolution, and we’ll always be looking at that,” Ford Performance Global Director of motorsports Mark Rushbrook told Sportscar365.

Ford’s final chance for an Evo would be for 2019, in the fourth and final scheduled year of its factory GTE-Pro/GTLM program."

Crappy race, way too much rain, red flags, and yellows, plus the evil Porsche punted us off again, just like Le Mans this year. Also, whoever the commentators were (with the exception of Alan McNish), they sucked.

Last year I spoke with a prominent member of the race team. He told me they discussed exploring and EVO package for the GT. As we know the GT is heavily restricted by the BOP program making the car perform* better would only have the BOP stewards take more away. It would have been a waste of time and money

I saw someone post a comment somewhere that the current* GT GTLM car would be obsolete soon. I didn't reply to that but since we are on the topic of GT racing let's do a simple BOP math exercise.* In 2017 we watched a front engine RWD* 8 year old design Aston Martin with the aerodynamics of a brick win Le Mans because BOP made it competitive,, and it was battling another front engine RWD car ( Corvette ) in the final laps..

That basic architecture is a bit archaic for racing but the BOP can make them competitive. BMW's new car is front engine, rear wheel drive..* so is it obsolete before they get it dialed in,,??* No* " BOP " will make them competitive.

The GT race car has a far better platform to work with. The aero is still state of the art and is way better than the 3 cars mentioned above. The GT would not give up any ground to anything aerodynamically for a long time.

The New GT's , chassis , balance and weight distribution will be hard to beat by any layout.* Horse* power is horse power and we are on the low end of our range now , If the GT would become noncompetitive for what ever reason* the current " BOP " structure* would bring us up and in line with the others. .

Based on what we witnessed with Aston Martin and Corvette with our Better DNA the GT could be competitive for another 5 to 6 years in it's current configuration* based on the current BOP system.

Look at Porsche, it's the same basic car as far as shape and aerodynamics. We know the 911 shape is not going away any time soon.* We know Porsche made a major move to exploit the rules to rotate their engine to help the balance it a big way.. nothing earth shattering as far as the engine goes and I don't see that changing any time soon. The GT is still a Ringer.. !!* * no EVO package required !!
