Let's see if anyone knows what these trick little Billet aluminum brackets are for on the transaxle assembly..

DBK or employees of the Ford Motor Company or not allowed to participate.... :biggrin

the 3rd picture I just borrowed from Specracer..

Mounts for the optional trailer hitch? :wink

Are the exhausts wrapped from the factory?

Well..
I would have expected a better guess from you. These are concealed and at the back of the car..

Nope.. they don't protrude that far down and as mentioned above they are concealed by the rear diffuser pan..

In keeping with my normal Stormcat mechanical inquisitive nature I was very curious to know what they were when I first saw them.. they are not support blocks. Or spacers for attachment points.

I thought possibly they were they some type of alignment jig or possibly a support bracket while they lifted and installed the transmission?. Than I dismissed those conclusions figuring they would have took them off as unnecessary weight...

Terry took the trailer hitch idea so that didn’t leave much for a smart a$$ comment. If I had been underneath a NFGT and had time to poke around like you have, I probably could have come up with a legitimate guess.

my first thought was that they were air jack points, I think it just doesn't look to be enough room.

It's for the double crossover disconnect which is indirectly not attached to the in-dash chrome smoke detector. When it is correctly attached, which it is obviously not, it can directly affect the performance of the out-of-dash fun meter.......... I think.....not?

Ok. I have actually given it some thought. One obvious answer would be a mounting point for the diffuser but that is so obvious it can’t be that. So my actual non-smart a$$ guess is a location to attach wheels or some sort of cart so they can then roll the GT from assembly station to assembly station. Or maybe use it as a lifting point to marry the drivetrain to the chassis. Technically that’s two guesses.

Could it be a vestige related to the diffuser on the race car?

Didn’t read this until after I posted so just disregard everything I guessed.

I'll give you an important clue. And this is a true statement if you remove them you could cause death to you and your passenger....
