I took the plunge to build a dedicated track car. Purchased a car from Dean at Kohr Motorsports. Lots of engine work was done to this GT350 motor. Converted from FPC to CPC. I spent all day yesterday gutting the interior. I'm doing the deconstruction myself. The Watson Racing cage will be installed by either Watson or Kohr Motorsports. The folks at Kohr are going to Daytona so they are very busy prepping 3 car.

Pretty cool how the entire instrument pane can be removed as one component.

Converted from FPC to CPK.

Why?

So that you could also remove 100 lbs of vibration dampeners? :lol

5.2 CPC engines run smoother. The redline is is the same as the FPC. Best of both worlds. He also upgraded springs and cams, not just the crankshaft to change the firing order. He will Dyno after he gets back from Daytona. Dean wants to know what this engine puts out.

Congrats Fred! That looks like it will be a blast on the race track. Dean is one of the best!

that was Dean's exact goal with the engine. you can actually get this done a lot cheaper than purchasing the crate motor from Ford Racing and end up with a much more durable and more powerful engine than the flat plane 5.2. the cross plane 5.2 is the only way to go with something like this. should be a rocket ship on the track and with all the upgraded GT350R suspension and brakes should be outstanding! good buy Fred!

Now starts the dirty job. Removing sound deadening and seam seal material.

be careful you don't remove any structural adhesives .. Will affect the bending and torsional rigidity of the Unibody structure.

Yes I would be careful about ditching all the sound pads too. Unless you want racing speeds. My 302S is hard to bear sometimes with all the road noise and rocks flying.

Dean will be welding the seams he determines are structural. He is providing advice as I go along. I guess I will be wearing ear plugs even with a helmet. I'm glad the interior stripping is almost done.

Next: All glass has to be removed for cage installation.

It’s back at KohR for cage installation. I took the IP apart to remove all components not needed. The IP metal frame is replaced by a bar on the cage.
