If Your Dealer installed Your plate go check it.

Mine was installed by my guys at my Dealership.

Was rubbing on gloss carbon fiber behind it.

Here is my fix. Small pads.

I use a small metal spacer under the plate. Spaces the plate off the valance. The OEM fastener should be the same T27 that is everywhere on the car (holds on the belly pans for instance), so there is plenty of thread for a 1/4" - 3/8" spacer. Note, my solution is for the 05. Have not mounted a plate on a 17 (yet)

If you plan to track the car, you might want to pull the plate. The felt feet might catch fire, it gets VERY hot back there. My plate has a sun taned look from the heat (again an 05, but 17 might be very similar)

Good point. We were all doing the license plate spacer mod back in the day to increase ventilation.

I identified that as a problem right away. I always have on a variety of nylon spacers on hand . These provide about a quarter inch standoff... no need to put an extra deep spacer on the new car versus the old car there's not much to gain from airflow , the hole is small and there's not much back in that area as far as air flow goes..

Gentlemen,

Well we certainly can't have that. In the middle of working on other stuff I see this, drop everything, and head to Ace Hardware for some nylon spacers. Back to my garage, plate with frame off, spacers installed, and.....with that crises averted I can go back to work. Perhaps I need counseling.

Who will be the first to install a front plate? The UK owners? Not me & it's required here in CA.

Easy... tow hook only for state inspection. Maybe the thread pitch and distance will be the same as the 05. If so, got it already

That's a crime! But it's either a matte finish or maybe one of the Ford workhorses?
