So how about it people?.

I need a second set of wheels for my GT and I have not been able to get a price on a set of original (standard wheels) from Ford Concierge Europe.

I'm leaning towards getting a set of HRE, ADV1 or similar made for the car.

In 2005 I was first mover with a 20/22 inch split rim combo, and not many people liked the fact that I was tampering with Fords greatest creation. But 6 months later it was more common and these days most people think it quite ok to personalize ones 2005/2006 Ford GT.

I guessing the mood will be the same this time around with the NFGT, but I would like to know your thoughts.

Here is a homemade Photoshop creation showing whats on my mind

I'm. It a wheel guy, so I voted no. I ordered CF wheels, but I'll be getting the alloy wheels as well, as I like the look more. I wanted the longer lug studs to be able to use both types of wheels.

Saying that "greatest design of all time" is too strong on my opinion, I like some wheels on cars, but it's just not my thing.

I will more than likely get a set of HREs for mine. Just to take the oem CF off to preserve them. But I will be very careful on size and dimension. That car is so dialed in that I wouldn't want to throw anything off.

Shelby - you are so cool.
Could you please send me a pm with your contact info.
I have some questions in regards to the specs of the standard wheels.

Can't wait to see what you'll be fitting on yours.

Love the carbon fiber wheels. They are hard to beat, and I was not a fan of their design when I first saw them in pics, but they have really grown on me. Anyhow, I can't help having to make mine unique. Will see how they turn out.

Because aftermarket wheels are easily reversible mods I would not mind anyone changing those to personalize their car even more. But I would take a close look at the original specs (width, height, offset and especially weight) and try to find something that is not worse.

Gentlemen,

The CF wheels on the NFGT are thoroughly tested, look great, and are really light weight. After spending 15k and a set of standard wheels to get them and the longer wheel studs that come with them I would be reluctant to change. I do intend to buy a set of the standard gloss black aluminum wheels to use at the track however. But.....to each his own.

I am always one to do aftermarket wheels as most stock wheels don't look great and nothing special about them.

In this case assuming I had the carbon fiber wheels no way I would ever change them.

#1 don't think any wheel could be lighter then then factory carbon
#2 you have a bare carbon fiber wheels how bad ass is that no finish is going to be more bad ass then carbon fiber

I'm just a hard working blue collar guy, who couldn't afford carbon wheels, or upgraded interior :frown

I don't think the carbon fiber wheels can be beat currently. That's why I will likely change between the two. Just for some variety...

Acually sponsors are financing the car. I'll be using it for charity events bennefit the Danish Childrens Cancer Foundation.
I'm not complaining :)

While I have no intention of getting rid of my CF oem wheels, these are a nice alternative for everyday street wheels and tires. The oem michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2s pick up SO many rocks I wanted a less aggressive tire for normal driving. The Pirelli P Zero has always been one of my favorites. 355/25/21 on rear and 285/30/20 up front. This set up gives the car an even wider look than it had before. Pretty happy with the way they turned out. Probably gonna do a set of lightweight Monoblocks too. Just haven't decided which pattern yet...
