HF3 is such a good sport about hanging out with everyone and complying with their wishes. Roketman said " hey would you mind squatting down a little bit so I don't look so short? " :biggrin
And Henry willingly complied with a smile.!!! I actually think he overshot the height requirement..:lol Got to love that guy! Raj was also there being very cordial with everyone..
Here's a picture of Adam Carolla and the distinguished panel

It was really cool. Henry, Raj, Chip, Ryan, etc... all so approachable, genuine, and gracious. The movie was great, gave a first hand perspective from Ferrari brass, which I had not heard before.
The highlight for Monica and I by far was the generosity of Dave to allow us into his garage to swarm over his NFGT and ask relentless questions. He then took many of us in his brand new GT for rides. We all were just blown away. My first impression of the actual ride was that any of these press people that complained about ride, sound or comfort, are a bunch of sniveling whiners. The new GT is glorious. It looks great, sounds great, and exudes passion, especially when you are riding in it. To me, it feels like an extemely refined race car. Thanks Dave!

I was able to attend this event with a group from the Petersen museum. Great to see many of you guys there. This is a great documentary that all car guys should see. Great to hear Edsel Ford II talk about going to LeMans in 1966 and 1967 with his father. Then hearing Henry III say the same thing about his dad (Edsel II). Felt very historic to be there and hearing directly from a very distinguished panel including Raj Nair, Chip Gnassi and Henry Ford III. Special thanks to Ford and the Henry Ford for hosting such a special event. BTW, Detroit is a very cool place to be this weekend. Seeing DBK very special NFGT is so cool in person. Got to visit the new M1 Concourse race track and garage condo facility which is right in the middle of the city. Ralph Gilles from FCA design, Moray Callum head of design of Ford and Michael Simcoe head of design from GM were all at this event at M1 and they brought their latest muscle cars to the event including the Demon, ZL1 1LE and GT350R (which was the quickest around the track from what I was told). Very cool to see all 3 designers engaging with each other. This was so cool. Going to cars and coffee at the St Johns concours in the morning. Then going to a seminar about the Viper with the original team Viper Roy Sjoberg and Herb Helbig. This is automotive overload and I love it. If I didn't like Texas so much, I would consider moving to Detroit. Love the people here and love that the car culture and car business is everywhere you go and nearly everyone you meet.

Apollo, ha ha, yes great minds think alike. By the way, I saw Neil Hanneman (lead development engineer on the 05-06 FGT?) at the Team Viper seminar at St. John's today. Neil spoke at the end of the program and talked about the small team development and engineering process that he learned while working on the original Viper Team. He said that he used the same team process on getting the FGT built in a very short time period. Very interesting to hear this connection from Viper to GT.

What a time and what a car!

This town has a car culture like none other I've experienced. The 2 days I was there was like a private party of who's who of automotive Greats and enthusiasts. So civilized and so fortunate to be tagging along.
Good to see a number of the usual suspects as well as new forum friends there soaking it all in and enjoying the moment! It was like 2006 all over again but even better.

Now the car.
As I was lucky enough let's just say to have been in close vicinity of the NFGT for about an hour - let me start by saying that both the engine configuration and exhaust sound are absolute NON issues! Case closed.
It also grips the road, brakes and handles effortlessly.
And as far as " cabin noise and ride " are concerned let me end by saying that if I was to buy a 911 it would be the GT3RS.
:wink

Mike, glad you and David could join us. The Ford GT Forum people are so amazing. I knew you would make some lifetime memories with your son. And I'll bet your son is still grinning ear to ear after DBK graciously offered to give him a ride. So cool:thumbsup

Stormy, I could not agree more. HF3 is a true gentleman with class. Always gracious, engaged and willing to listen to any and all who want to bend his ear. Including us Forum members. Glad he is a Ford!

And Chip....what stories he related while engaged with the roving dinner. Pretty major operations between Nascar, Indy car and IMSA. How do you keep them all straight. He does and he wins!

Great night, film and friends! Let’s do it again even bigger in a few weeks in Utah….:biggrin

Gentlemen,

Chip Ganassi, Raj, H3, and too many other notable FGT team members to list made this a night to remember. DBK was, as always, a gracious host to a hoard of members who decended on his shop to bask in the glow of six new 2017 GT's. The comment of the night for me was from Ganassi who said, "I knew the story, the cast of characters, and that the Ford GT was a great car. But what I didn't understand or know until last year is the incredible passion that owners and fans have for this car. This sets the GT apart from all others.

Chip

that is so true!

It was great to meet you two as well. Hopefully we can make it up to NV and see some racing sometime. Good luck when you start back up after the summer. Stay safe.
