The Motor city Region of the Shelby American Club had their car show Sunday June 11, 2017 in the parking lot of Ford World Headquarters. This car caught my eye because I had never seen this before. A lot of early prototype Mustangs were built but this one baffles me. had small running horse emblems on it. please chime in with any info you may have. interesting car.

I think Member CobraJeff has a ton of information on both of the prototypes, including a bunch of pictures of them at Amelia Island.

BTW beautiful design, especially for the time.

Cougar II, basically a hardtop version on the Bordinat Cobra, but with an entirely different dash. Definitely a woulda, coulda, shoulda Ford.

BTW, the wraparound rear window actually predated the 63 Corvette. It's a shame Ford didn't follow up on it.

It's a shame G.M. has never gone back to its split window. :wink

Here is a story on this car:

Maybe they should have dragged it to Carlisle, where there were 17x of them, had no idea there were that many Cougars around, or should I say, from my part of the world Cougah.

Hey pockets, at least GM tried with the 71-73 Rivieras. No split but the wraparound look was back:

Aaaaaaaaah...but 'close' only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. :wink

(You probably noticed the curvature formed where the 'door-to-rear-fender' area meets the rear window and roof [in the photo of the concept car taken from its right rear quarter] is very reminiscent of said 'boat tail' Rivera.)
