Chip, like the new shaved head look. :thumbsup

Pete,

After I shaved my hair off I asked my sister Cindy if I looked like Triple X. She said, "No, I'm thinking more like Elmer Fudd". So I sent a picture to Charley and he said, "Dad, you look like Walter White without the meth lab".

Thanks to everyone for the nice comments . It was a pleasure to co-ordinate this event with all of my Ford GT family , my Ford Motor Company family and the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE)

I hope you all made it home safely. ( It is snowing here in Detroit tonight :(

I will follow up with Ford Motor Company and the SAE next week to see if any hard-copy or digital documentation of the event and the presentations will be made available and advise all of you.

I will not re-iterate the comments that many of you made earlier in this thread regarding the stellar performance of all the presenters and the great displays of the suppliers ... but suffice it to say there was a 'Treasure - Trove " of information disseminated during the evening that I am sure all FORD and FORD GT Owners would like to have in our libraries.

Thank you

andy (ajb)

Andy, Ajai and I couldn't make it due to work, but it has been a real pleasure watching what has been posted and talking to the lucky attendees. Please find out about any forthcoming publications. Thank you for all you did to set it up. I do still have counterfeit tickets for sale. Thanks. Frank

The shoes are not flashy enough for Ajai! Do they come in colors to match the cars?

Ed

Hopefully I need a pair with a #2 on the side....

Andy, Thanks, thanks, thanks for all the work you did to bring the event together. It was a great presentation and was very informative. Most of us would have never know the event was going on with out you bring it together. Good to see old friends and meet some new ones.

That gear is totally awesome. More details on it please.

Great job Sparco! I have to tap into that gear for myself.

WHAT A FANTASTIC EVENT!!!!! I was a kid in a candy store for 3 days, great people, and also GREAT info. Only downside was getting home, had to wait for crew. Finally got to our house at around 3:30a.

So for any of the tech geeks (like me) a few tid bits we got.

Front LCA's are only separated at the keel by 120mm (the lower LCA's are darn near 2ft long)
Frontal surface area of GT is 1.82 sqm, by contrast the 458 is 2.1sqm (the presentation over layed these, and also project Silver to show how small GT really is)
The COP (center of pressure on the car created by the downforce) only moves 10cm, wing up vs down, because of the active flaps in the front splitter.
And for those that understand the Spool Valve, the way its "active", is they rotate the valve to get the variability.

Benchmark was the 458, then the 675LT came along, and Larry Holt said, that when the 675 arrived, their "goal posts" were moved a good 40-50 yards further down field. But GT still beats it.

It is always good to go to Detroit / Dearborn.

And like Stromcat, we were able to see the lobby of WHQ.

Also got to ask Multimatic about the charge tube in the butress, and if the "crease" had any significance, but it was more about structure, and the pressure capability. They played with a few different forms, but the CFD showed this was the best of the possible options.

And here is the magic creator.... The silver piece is the actuator that are responsible for the CRAZY fast ride height change. I have now sat in a car when this change happens, and its FAST and you can actually feel it. This pieces also give the front end lift. Larry Holt described this feature, as "free", coming along with the 50mm ride height adjustment.

I liked Larry's description of the suspension system being like two entirely different suspensions. Adjustable dampers have been around for years (e.g. Delphi's excellent MagneRide), but these adjustable dampers have been stuck with the same spring/spring rate. The NFGT's system permits two entirely different spring rates via two springs run in series. They are stacked and decoupled depending on the mode. Very cutting edge.

Yeah, and he mentioned a lot of Patents were pending.

Very cutting edge.

The only negative all night was that the speakers were being told to hurry up and conclude their presentations. Many of us would have liked to have heard the long versions of each presentation. The final speaker only had time to briefly mention the crank shaft they built on Monday and then used it on the next race a few days later. So many cool stories.

We need one of those cool engineering cut away pencil drawings of the car.

Yeah, Powertrain got the shaft. :lol
I would have loved to hear more about the engine/transmission.

The fiitings on the actuator indicate it's hydraulically activated. Lots of hydraulics in this car. Keep this in mind when people complain about the weight.

Yes another hour or 2 would have been fine, but the staff of Cobo would have been less impressed....

The only negative all night was that the speakers were being told to hurry up and conclude their presentations.

Indeed it is, here is the tank for it under the bonnet (just above the windshield washer tank).

Also you can see that there is a "jump point", under the bonnet, where you can attach jumper cables, or in the case of the pic (red) a battery tender.

While we are under here... a pic of the rocker, with link, to the front sway bar.
