I doubt that high. Even though IMHO, GT40s are cheap relative to F cars, and this car's provenance is known, I'm guessing $2.5-$4MM? What is interesting is now many "street" cars either ended up in commercials (this car did Gulf ads I believe) or were converted back to the race track.

There is a 6 page road test article about this car (I suspect it is the same car - no serial number listed in article), in the November 1966 edition of Car Life Magazine. Reading this article (in jr high back 1966) gave me the FGT bug in the first place. MSRP in 1966 was $17,120.00.

The estimate is $4-5M but I feel it may go higher. I can't wait to see it.

Wow, look at the featured car list! Awesome. Mecum had dropped off my DVR (channel switch?) so I set up to record it again.

Gentlemen,

A fine place to park 5 million dollars that you aren't using.

If I were going to spend money on a car I'd be even more afraid to drive than the vintage GT40, I'd pick up the F40 and one of the Enzos for the same money :) And actually, if someone has that kind of disposable money, all three wouldn't be a stretch. Unfortunately, Nevada doesn't have Powerball :)

Can't believe it's the same car. The street cars at $17k were Mk IIIs. Of which, seven were made. And they were ugly. This is advertised as a Mk I.

There are also three '05-06 GTs for sale at Mecum Monterey - all from one owner.

Mecum Monterey has some unbelievable cars for sale; a couple of Enzo's, a LaF, a Mac P1, at least one Porsche Carrera GT, the aforementioned GT40 & GTs, just a slew of great cars.

Did the no stripe cars have any mileage on them?
