I assume it would be wise to carry an extra 10 amp fuse, in case one did blow. What would be the symptoms, all gauges to zero indicating an over-voltage and protection has occurred?

sr71,

In the case of a severe overload, the protection fuse would blow, however the connection to the gauges will still be made, in other words they will still be functional. This was choice that had to be made. It is possible to reverse the fuse adapter (flip it around) and use a lower amp rating fuse (say 5 amps) for the circuit going to the gauges. I would also probably change the protection fuse to 15 or 20 amps so that the gauge fuse will always blow first! Now in the case of a severe overload, the 5 amp fuse going to the gauges would blow, supposedly protecting the gauges. I will do a write up on this soon so everyone can make there own choice. Jay
