The pig is appropriate.

:lol

I can't find any sane deal on an R right now. I'm going to employ my FGT strategy and wait until the end of the production run.

When the snow starts falling up north is when I'll start making phone calls to dealerships up there for the GT350. Patience is a virtue.

You really have to love small town Ford dealers who take care of their customers. I bought a GT 500 and a few F150 trucks from my local small town dealer. So he has an allocation for a GT350, not the R, and offers it to me for $500 under msrp. Showed me a broker's message offering him $6000 over msrp for the car. He just wants to keep my business which he has from me and my Dad before me. It's good to know that some dealers still care about their loyal customers. Now, with the premiums listed for the GT350, think what the dealers will be asking for the new GT. I bought three new GTs back in 05 and 06. No one was crazy about them. Times have changed. I doubt I will get a shot this time but after a year or two, they will be available. Life span on hot new sports cars is one to two years, then the celebrities have to have the next new super car. I plan on having a few good time with the GT350 and then hopefully add a GT when the hype calms down.

^^^This!!!

A few dealers still make a case for the franchise system. Unfortunately, too few.

Great info - thanks!

Did you note the difference between the R and standard 350 front spring rates?

Yes. Note the difference in the rear sway bar too.

Page 4 has a neat history of the performance divisions.

You wouldn't notice the difference.

So the R is substantially stiffer than the base 350, even with 50 lbs less rotating mass. That means the R with alloy wheels is still stiffer than the base car. I think my question is answered.

R suspension tuning with alloys will be somewhere between the base car and the R with CF wheels.

My local Ford dealer sent me a package yesterday that contained a Ford GT 350 brochure and a Ford Performance CD which featured about a half hour report on the GT 350. The video was hosted by various Ford project engineers who worked on the development of the car and they explained all of the special features on the car. It's technical but great viewing. If you have a GT 350 on order, you should ask your dealer if he has a brochure and the Ford Performance video on the new GT350. It makes for great viewing and will be a great piece of documentation for the future.

Well that was fast!

Sarasota Ford says they have two allocated and took orders when the car was announced.
