Had a weird issue with a car cover that I had placed over the car that leaked some of it's color on to the rear of the GT.
I had the cover over the GT and had a blow up pool toy sitting on top (not heavy don't freak out) as it had a leak so I wanted to pressure it up to find the hole.

Got some palmolive soap/water and was rubbing it over to find bubbles for the leak.
The cover is water proof and of good quality, so any drips just beaded up and ran down to the rear of the car.
I guessing that the soap somehow got through the cover and reacted with the underside and dropped its color like smears of black shadows.
A few gallons of pirspiration and a few hours or full on attack and I got it removed with a light/medium swirl remover from 3M.

The issue is that the white decal circle is toast as its stained it and needs replacing to be new again.
The black numbers are fine, but don't think they can be removed safely and refitted.

I'm thinking my best bet is to get one made from a local shop to the same specs in vinyl.

Or is there someone who has what I need already?

Stuart

Looks very art-deco. There are a few people here who have made their own. Pretty simple to get a sign place to crank out what you need. I think the doored were a little tricky because of the hard angles they cover. Or you can order a set from Torie but Ford is proud.

I can send you one tomorrow same oem 3M material & you place the numbers on after the roundel or I can print the numbers directly on the white so it is one piece. Send me a note if I can help.

Cheers

The Gulf themed GT40 won LeMans in 68, I believe.

It was the John Wyer Automotive Engineering Team car, driven by Jackie Oliver and Jacky Ickx in 1969.

The Gulf themed GT40 won LeMans in 68, I believe.

The same GT40 , S/N P/1075, won the race both years. In 1968, it was driven by Pedro Rodriquez and Lucien Bianchi.

The "heritage" paint job on P/1075 was on the car each year; the car number in 1968 was "9"; in 1969, it was "6".

Oops. That's what I meant, Ralphie. Wyer Automotive piloted by Ickx/Oliver. And you beat me to it. #1075 won both years.

In an obsolete small block car after the French changed the formula to end 427 domination. Interesting that the Mk II 427 also won the "Index of Thermal Efficiency." I don't know exactly what that means, except it has something to do with economy. Those big blocks just weren't stressed all that hard, while everyone else was screaming along several thousand RPMs higher.

And then along came Porsche.

69 was a good year for one particular model in the Ford range, especially the go fast one....hmmm
