Congratulations to Summer and Tom for the "fastest" of the cars shown and listed in "Hot Rod" magazine's (09/14 issue) article, "12 Ways to Go Fast in the Standing Mile," with an honorable mention also to Kendall's CoolTech. Nice article! Great plug for the Ford GT!

Way cool! Why does it say top speed 225 and then say it did 235?

I think the 225 was for the Standing Mile, for comparison to the other cars in the article, and the 235 was for the 1.5 mile passes...

I really enjoyed reading that article too a few weeks back. Kind of a modern twist on Bonneville.

Obviously BIG HP can BEAT its way through the air. That Trans AM with the huge "bird catcher" certainly has to push a lot of air out of the way.

Look, I'm biased about the GT, but did anyone else notice the relative lack of streetability on all the other cars? Then there's the black GT, and it looks showroom stock, (and probably acts like it when driven around town). Only the ZR1 looks stock/streetable, but it was also 30MPH slower than the GT.

Skyrex and several other TT GT's that we have done are normal-driving street machines. For these special venues, we will typically advise C16 fuel and we'll load a tune with more aggressive timing. Boost is controllable in-car using a digital gauge interface. Set boost up to ~23lbs and power through the mile with ~1000RWHP. In Skyrex's case, again, again, and again - sometimes nearly back to back. Driving home? No problem. Dial the boost back down and fill with 91 octane. Re-load more conservative tune file. Run car in this trim at 15-16 psi and about 750-800 RWHP. Just miserably slow at this modest HP :)

How does the adjustable boost work? Is there a valve that you add onto the engine to control the boost from the digital gauge interface?
