With all the awesome FGTs and exotic supercars in your garages do you still have a soft spot for some of the more ordinary cars from back in the days when you were in high scool - when money were less but car enthusiasm was peaking? ...... and did you keep or repurchased them later in life?

I´ve had US cars since 1989. At first, I had only one - a 66 Mustang convertible in "street machine" look -, but as the time passed and my piggy bank developed positively the collection grew in numbers and "level". Today the total Count on cars passing through my ownership is 108 US cars - cars I have bought because I thought I could not live without, but then realised there was something even better out there ..... :confused

I went throigh the phase where I collected what I thought were the finest muscle & pony cars - 66 Shelby GT350, 67 Shelby GT350, 69 Shelby, 70 Challenger T/A, 71 Cuda convertible, 71 Superbee R/T 440, 66 Corvette 427, 69 Chevelle 427 and so on but the past few years my focus has turned towards the cars I found cool back when I was in high school. Not necessarely the most expensive cars, not always the top model etc. - just cars I loved as a kid ....

I guess that you can go through various phases ..... and right now I am on a trip Down memory lane :biggrin

I now have all the cars that my friends had back in High School - Dallas High, Oregon 1983. I have the 53 F100 truck, the 68 Mustang coupe, the 74 Ranchero and now latest addition a genuine old school conversion van :biggrin

Funny thing is that cruising around in my no where near perfect - but one owner all original - Econoline Zimmer Conversion van brings me just as much joy - maybe even more - than when driving around in a show winning MOPAR or Shelby.

Any of you have it the same way? :biggrin

1970 Corvette Stingray, Ford Gran Torino, Pontiac Firebird Black with the Phoenix on the hood and pretty much any British two seat roadster were tops on my list in High School. What I ended up with was DRASTICALLY different. 1974 Ford Thunderbird, Emerald Green with white vinyl interior and a hood the size of Manhattan. Not the chick magnet you would think it is.

Nice, but it's all about the interior. For the ultimate in sensory experience, please post photos of the inside!

1959 Impala, 1962 Bel Air Sport coupe, 1968 Corvette "T"-top were the cars I lusted after and owned "back in the day". (As you all know, I've been looking for another '59 Impala for over 10 years now.)

'Never owned a "Hemi"...always wanted one. 'STILL would like to have one (1965 Dodge Coronet 2dr post Hemi A990 automatic [clone], or a "stocker" 1966 Hemi/auto Coronet 2dr sdn)!

I've always been partial to old Mopars, and I am still reeling from having JUST missed out on a deal on a 1969 Hemi Super Bee 4-speed. My wife said we HAVE to have a finned-car from the fifties in our collection, so I just bought this for her today. I think she will have fun this summer in it. It is really the only car from the fifties that I was excited about. I saw this one when I was on vacation in Florida a few weeks ago, and just called them on it this morning.

:biggrin - They say it was made in 1983 but I have a feeling this interior was a leftover from the seventies :biggrin

That is an awesome example of 70's/80's opulence, back when a VAN was a VAN ~ forget the mini-van, cross-over pretenders!! :thumbsup:thumbsup

Perfect vehicle for a Road Trip!!

I had a Tratek van outfitted just like that. It was Red. Put 225,000 miles in it around the USA. Go Ford!

Didn't read the post properly, you said ordinary cars and I posted a Dino, back to the subject at hand:

Nice van! I spent my younger youth driving in one all over the US. Good memories.

I'm more partial to the A Team look van these days :)
