GT40 Sells

GT 40 sells at Mecum Houston at 4:00PM with 2-3 bidders. Reserve was taken off at 7,000,000 and hammer dropped at 7,100,000 sold to a telephone bidder. Wow, what excitement for a large turnout. Well, Sorry- Mecum sale results show GT 40 sold for 7,000,000? Oh well.

A bit less than I thought. McQueens/LeMans camera car with less racing pedigree went for $11M if I recall. A deal relative to Ferrarista of similar pedigree?

I was told this GT40 sold at auction in 2012 for 4.8 Million.

Note the car. It's just a race car. The air flow dams in the front are just formed aluminum. No paint. Just a purely functional race vehicle.

No one can ever deny that the the GT40 was a perfect alignment of the sun moon and stars...

Thanks for the closeup pictures, I couldn't get that close in Houston because of the restraints. These are great pictures of a very expensive GT40.

Beautiful car. Is that Portofino Blue? In some pictures it seems light enough, but in others it appears too dark.
