Gentlemen,
I have been communicating with Steven Nesta, official photographer and publicity manager for the Matech GT1 Team about a project he has been working on for over a year documenting the Team’s World Championship season in 2010. Steven had unprecedented access to all aspects of the Matech Team and in this photo documentary he worked closely with their race engineer José as well as the chief driver Thomas Mutsch. He has conducted extensive interviews with team members and also has access to a wealth of materials unavailable anywhere else. In addition to the two books (440 pages and 70 pages) he has produced a hologram as well as 12 full-color prints suitable for framing. The entire set will be enclosed in a specially designed case bearing the Matech logos. Fewer than 100 copies of these book sets will be produced, each one of them numbered and signed along with a letter of authenticity.
Matech Racing’s success in GT1 ultimately led to their receiving an invitation to race at the 24 Hours of LeMans which completed the tie between the new Ford GT and the 134 original cars built to win the world’s greatest motor race in the 1960s. The extremely limited production of these book sets make them very expensive to produce on a per unit basis and they will be expensive to buy as well with a cased set costing somewhere in the neighborhood of $950. I know that’s a lot of money but compared to the prices other far more common for GT memorabilia are bringing I think these book sets in their cases are a bargain. I obviously intend to purchase one myself. They will first be available only to Ford GT Forum members. 50 sets need to be sold for this project to make sense, 99 would be the maximum number that would ever be produced so this is guaranteed to be a very rare piece of Ford GT race history.
Although I don’t have a photograph of the presentation box to post here, I have seen photos of the prototype and it’s really cool. I’d like to get some idea of how many of our members would be interested in purchasing one of these sets. I have no financial interest whatsoever in this project. I am one of Matech’s biggest fans however and for those of our members who are new to the Forum, I helped David Bannister organize our trip to LeMans to watch the race in 2010. As such I am keenly interested in this project succeeding because I would really like to purchase a set of these books.
Every Ford GT owner should have this book set in your home library along with all of your other for GT memorabilia and documentation. How many members are interested?
