I had the GT out today and I was playing a CD. After a few minutes of driving the stereo starting cutting out. I thought the CD was dirty so I tried cleaning it but no help, then I put a different one in and I got the same thing. I happened to notice my Speedo was stuck at 20 MPH. I parked it in a lot and turned off the key. The Speedo was still at 20 MPH when I turned the key back on it reset back to Zero. I drove the car for over an hour, the stereo never cut out and all the gauges worked OK. Last year I lost the fuel gauge but it has been replaced. I also keep it on the charger. I still have the original battery but the car only had 1800 miles on it. Change the battery? :confused

If you still have the original battery I would change it!

I still like the Optima, ordered through Ford (has the Ford GT Label, too).

But many will tell you to buy a Diehard...

I got the Optima red top without the ford label from Amazon.

You need to also check your ground connection on your frame

I agree with Shelby and then buy the diehard and a battery tender.

See my definitive battery list post

My stereo did that to, even sound was low

Check engine light came on too

Was the ground strap nut. Remove it and sand inside of tapped hole with sandpaper and use dialectric grease

My battery lasted another 18mos after

Thanks to all that chimed in, I will definitely check the ground and decide on what battery to buy. Of course after loosing a gauge, I will probably swap out with Speedhuts. Of course the car is still under warranty (2 more years), so I may have to wait. Don't want to void anything.

Yes, I still have it. Garaged until the Spring. We'll have to meet up. I recently had a full body Expel completed on the car last September. Looks great! A Lambo owner told the owner of the Shop that he would give me near 300K for it. Wasn't interested but it felt good.
