Robertson's Ford GT Gets Environmental Award
Robertson Racing mirrored its podium finish at Le Mans with a third place ALMS finish at Lime Rock recently. The No. 04 car, with the team's all-pro lineup of David Murry and Anthony Lazzaro, overcame plenty of blocking from the leaders to secure the team's best result in ALMS competition to date. More than that, the same car took home the Michelin® Green X® Challenge award – marking both the team's and Ford's first win in the environmental race-within-a-race for efficiency. The Doran Ford GT-R runs on cellulosic E85R ethanol.

Ex-Wyer, McQueen GT40 Sets Records in Monterey, Nets $11 Million!

Each August, the automotive world flocks to Northern California's Monterey Peninsula for a week full of incredible car shows, vintage racing and automotive auctions featuring some of the world's greatest cars. At last weekend's RM auction, a 1968 Ford GT40/Mirage set a new world record for an American car, selling for $11 million! As the sister car to the John Wyer entry that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans twice in 1968 and in '69, its Gulf Oil colors are unmistakable. This car was also owned by the late Steve McQueen, who used it as the camera car during the filming of his movie Le Mans. Check it out HERE

and stay tuned for an insider's report on Monterey to appear on FordRacing.com!

Ford GT Enters the Record Books with 283 MPH Standing-mile Pass

Standing-mile acceleration competitions have become extremely popular and the Ford GT is one of the most sought-after standing-mile rockets. Everyone knows the Ford GT is fast, but we didn't think we'd ever see one this fast! At a recent event at the Kennedy Space Center, Johnny Bohmer drove his 1,700-horsepower 2006 Ford GT to a speed of 283.232 MPH in the standing mile, and in the process, into the record books! Check out Bohmer's "BADD GT" (http://www.performancepowerracing.c...guiness-world-record-283-232-mph-ppr-badd-gt/) before watching it in action.

Jalopnik, Racer Magazine Celebrate 50 Years of the Ford GT

Ford fans know that 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of the start of the Ford GT40 program, and to commemorate the occasion, Jalopnik.com and Racer Magazine have come up with their own Ford GT-centric content. Jalopnik put together a photo timeline of the entire Ford GT program from its inception in 1963 all the way to today's 250+ MPH standing-mile rockets. Racer Magazine on the other hand put together a panel of experts who chose the GT40 as 'Le Mans Legend' of the 1960s!

50 Years of Ford GT40 to be honored at Amelia Island; Le Mans Winner Dan Gurney to Speak

Few American cars are more iconic than the Ford GT40 and with the legendary race car turning 50 in 2013, celebrations are in order. The car will be one of the honored vehicles at this weekend's Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance and the very car which won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1968 and 1969 will be on display at the event. Similar to the GT40, few American racing drivers are more decorated than Dan Gurney and the 1967 Le Mans winner will be in attendance at the show as part of a panel discussing the incredible GT40.

Ralphie, I thought of you today. The GT40 seminar panel (Brian Redmond, David Hobbs, Bob Bondurant, Dan Gurney, John Horsman & Lee Holman) was incredible ~ Edsel Ford attended as well! 2 hours passed like minutes, with the stories from these fellows. Guys you know and some you could certainly relate to.

I was not aware of the extreme level of competition (as well as coerced coordination) between the Shelby and Holman Moody GT40 Teams. I had erroneously been operating under the assumption that the Ford Effort was targeted entirely at Ferrari. As an example, it was shared by a couple of the panelists that Ford had directed the two Teams to swap chassis between races in order to leverage up 'lessons learned' in vehicle development. Interesting that the two Teams also competed for financial support from Ford, with Shelby receiving funding from Marketing (read: Iacocca) and Holman Moody from the once powerfull Engine Foundry Group. Amazing stuff!

One fellow (John Horsman) sure had an interesting perspective ~ The former Team Manager for the 'old' Mark II chassis that won LeMans twice (Nice resume)! A quiet man with top organizational, engineering and personnel admin skills.

Through all the stories, and notwithstanding the intra-squad competition, the message was clear;

HF2 wasn't going to settle for anything less than total victory. :thumbsup
