Last night a couple of us guys went out to eat and get a couple drinks, and I guess as soon as me and my one friend left, one of the other guy's got a phone call. Long story short, it was his brother, who had just bought an F430 Spyder. He was down at the casino and on his way out he was carjacked. Guy robbed him, made him get out of the car, and was gonna take off with the F430. Unfortunately for genius criminal, the F430 owner owns a gun range. Shot and killed the carjacker on the spot. :eek

Those guys have had a hell of a run. His brother just killed a guy earlier this year who robbed a liquor store they own at gunpoint, and about a month ago a guy rented a gun and 100 bullets at the range, using 99 on the targets and saving the last one for his skull :ack (said range is about 5 minutes from my house).

What?! Was there no inquiry into these poor, misguided, abused & misused individual's sorry backgrounds before your redneck pals PLUGGED 'em???:eek

Where's their compassion? Where's there concern for the "OTHER" guy? These poor perps shudda just been arrested by the police (who were undoubtedly nearby) and - IF found guilty in a court of law - should have been placed in a counciling program to rehabilitate them.

I'm SHOCKED that you'd hang out with such gun toting, nut job whackos, Dave.

('Coarse, the fact that there's always a "little friend" riding with me in NO WAY indicates hypocracy on my part. No sir.)

I urge good gun control rules...

Aim carefully for the body mass and use both hands!

Good shooting!

never seen anyone get up from a head shot. never will. :ack glad no body else was hurt.

when you intentionally do things that you know is wrong, life kind of has a way of catching up to you. Its the unintentional things that you can say your sorry about and hope for forgiveness. so always try to do the honorable thing. it does not take much time and is good for you.

imho .... carjackers should be shot anyway. just like horse thieves use to be.

One of the states in the continental U.S. actually passed a LAW declaring it was plenty okay to shoot car jackers - whether you shoot someone 'jacking YOUR car or you shoot someone 'jacking someone else's! "Just shoot 'em" was the point of the law!

My bet is it was Texas ...but, I just don't recall.

Yes, but their families do. Just ask OJ.

BYW, MI has much better gun laws that CA, shall issue CCW. In CA it would be better to just give the carjacker your car. Shooting the dirtbag would cost you more than losing the car!

"I'd rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6", is the principle to apply in cases like Dave outlined. Shoot FIRST to defend yourself ... and sweat the small stuff later. At least you'll pbly be ALIVE to sweat 'em that way.

In Florida it's shoot and ask questions later.
Carjacking applies.

Thanks. I knew it was one of the southern states, but like I said, I'd have bet it was Texas!

ALL STATES should have a similiar law.

(In my own house, that IS the law already. 'Has been for several decades...)

Steve, there was some poor guy that had a lingering headache. When the hospital tech took an x-ray they found a small caliber bullet in his noggin. It turned out to be his loving wife. I'm not sure how his wife was found out, as the slug was left inside. I do recall that this "loving" wife was loving someone else. I guess divorce was just to hard to deal with.

Before reading note disclaimer below!

I have a family and don't want to spend my life behind bars while they grow up. In CA the law the right to use deadly force is justified only in cases where there is a reasonable belief that you or someone close to use, such as a family member, is in immediate danger of bodily harm. I don't know the specifics of the incident that DBK mentioned. But for example in CA, if you were carjacked at gunpoint, forced out of your car and the dirtbag gets into you car and then puts the gun down and starts to drive away. You then pull out your gun a shoot the dirtbag, you would be in violation of CA law since your life was no longer in immediate danger. If you shot him up while he had the gun pointed at you, you should be OK.

Ice is 100% correct. If the perp did he deed in Cal-f00l-nia the F-car owner would be driving a Kia and be in charge of providing scholarships for the next 8 generations of the perp's off spring.

The law was specifically changed here in Texas. As of September 1st, 2007 you can use "deadly force" to defend your property. The next SOB that hangs a flyer on my door is toast!

Isn't it "nice" that (at least in Texas & Florida) the state gov't now gives it's 'permission' for one to do what one's common sense has always DEMANDED be done? :skep:bang:smash

Can you just imagine what our 'founders' would think about this?:ack

Actually, several states have now passed similar laws to this. It's called The Castle Doctrine and not only allows you to use deadly force anywhere you feel your life is threatened, if it is found to be a justified shooting, you are immune to wrongful death lawsuits filed by the bad guys relatives.

It's the first good common sense gun law I've seen in a long time and it's catching on across the country.

Don't expect to see it in California anytime soon though.:frown
